OkLAHOMA

I am new here...just found this site today. Wish I had found it sooner as this was my first attempt at a Treasure Hunt!

Yes, the coins are real.....the one in Oklahoma has already been found and claimed. ( a friend saw it and I believe him)

I understand the frustrations of not knowing whether you should keep hunting for your region( I was lucky.....lived 15 minutes away)

If you do go again, anyone else you find hunting....it helps if you pass out your phone number to other Hunters. The sincere ones will let you know, and give you enough details....that they not making up a story.

There was an incident at our location before the DP coin was found, where a lady said she had found it....but would not show it to anyone....and another lady left and went home. People later found out...she had found an unusual coin.....BUT it was NOT the Dr Pepper one! Its hard to know whom to believe.

Yes....it would help if Dr Pepper could post on the DP site which regions have been found ( as some people are driving some distance to even Try!)

Good Luck to the Hunters for any Coins that may still be out there!

Nashville clues and (some) answers

1. Here's a clue to start you on your way. !46 years ago this was the CSA.
(Confederate States of America..so in the south)
2. You'll find yourself in the right state, getting hotter, if you're in a place where you can't reach the water.
(a landlocked state)
3. Assuming that volunteers won't just waltz in, you'll need to figure out this clue on your own to win.
(Tennessee Volunteers and the song the Tennessee Waltz which by the way plays on the bells in the Bicentennial Mall)
4. Our search continues in the land of the free, go back one hour from EST.
(Central time zone)
5. Here's a clue to narrow your search down. Look for it in a place where you might build an L-town.
(?)
6. Though winter is short and summer heat strong, this place remains at 36 degrees all year long.
(Tennessee is at 36 degrees longitude)
7. By canoe you will pass the right place if you're lucky, somewhere between Kentucky and Kentucky.
(Land Between the Lakes state park is between Kentucky Lake and the state of Kentucky)
8. Confine your search between hill and field, when flowers bloom and winters yield.
(Springfield TN and Spring Hill TN are directly north and south of each other, with Nashville in between)
9. Between Will's son, Robert's son and William's son, you'll find the place where the search will be done.
(Wilson county, Robertson county and Williamson county make a triangle around Davidson county)
10. For the moment, what you need to know, is that the trail Venerable Carya must stay above and below.
(Carya means hickory tree, so venerable Carya must mean Andrew Jackson, nicknamed Old Hickory...he was insturmental in the Trail of Tears, movement of indians to the west, and this trail splits and is above and below Nashville)
11. These waters aren't holy, in fact they're man made. You must now travel West to find where the coin's laid.
(Radnor Lake in Nashville is man made)
12. To find the coin, northeast run, from this watery heaven in the lost horizon.
( There is a book titled The Lost Horizon and in this book the main character is in a plane crash and takes refuge in a buddist temple in Shangri La....there is a Shangri La lake in Nashville)
13. You'll find the coin inside CLV, which covers it just over 180 degrees.
(CLV is 155 in roman numerals...Briley Parkway is Highway 155 and goes around Nashville just over 180 degrees)
14. The only way to pass this test is to head downtown from where big birds nest.
(the Nashville International Airport)
15. To the west of this place is this clue's key, but don't get mixed up, think A Lord Progeny.
(???)
16. North of there you'll do the best, but first you have to make a guess at the meaning of COAKS.
(again, C is 100 in roman numerals...100 Oaks Mall south Nashville)
17. Despite its name, grapes do not grow. Proof that south and east you should go.
( there is a small community named Vine)
18. Don't feel cheated, this clue is fair, and all you have to do is head north from there.
(the Tennessee State Fairgrounds are in south Nashville)
19. Her name is equal with civilization, her home is a place of veneration. To find the coin you must go forth, from here to the west and also north.
(Athena is the goddess of civilization, huge statue of her in the Parthenon in Nashville)
20. North and east the coin will be, from where nine muses dance in blissfully.
(On Music Square downtown there is a statue called Musica that is nine muses dancing (nude!!!))
21. East of where they learn to serve, the location of the coin is reserved.
(a school of some kind..maybe law school)
22. The coin you seek is still around, northwest of where the children of Uranus might be found.
(the children of Uranus and Gaia are the greek gods...also refered to as the Titans....the Local football team, who have a stadium downtown..LP Field)
23. Fron on high you see a circle inside a dome, if you head northwest you'll near the coin's home.
(The courthouse or capitol)
24. To find the coin, don't hesitate, leave the capitol and cross the state.
(there is an inlaid stone map of the state in the bicentennial mall)
25. The road to the coin may be found someplace between prea sedere, nine and three.
(?? --6th ave runs beside the park??)
26. Go to a place where time doesn't fly. It stands still as you go by.
(on the East side of the park is a walkway where every county buried a time capsule)
27. Where 95 counties ring from small towers, and three stars shine at all hours, from the source of these chimes you must head backward in time.
(the Carrilions and Court of three stars is at the end of the park, and is exactly as described in the clue above... on the west side of the park are obelisks Pathway of History...with dates from current to back in history with a marker for every 10 years)
28. The time to travel to the coin in near, the distance is measured in unlight years.
(I assume the obelisks)
29. The coin is found near a location immune to the laws of terrestrial rotation.
(the WWII memorial is a large heavy globe that floats on a fountain of water and you can spin it with your hand, even though it is 18,000 lbs.)
30. Solve this clue, prove yourself smarter, go back 137 years to the states third charter.
(1870 is 137 years from 2007, in the Pathway of History there is an obelisk for this date)

Maybe someone else knows the answers to the ones we did not..or maybe had different ones.

Boston coin looks to be in a bad place now. I just re-confirmed with the City Park Services that they are not opening the area "pending legal action". They are quite upset that the promo had no permits and at the very least encouraged people to disrupt an historic landmark. People were caught jumping the fence at 3 AM last night, I understand as well.

If anyone DID get that coin somehow, I think it might get caught up in legal action for some time.

yeah...Boston was fun...I stayed till maybe 8-930am, I was the idiot that drove in from Natick, only cost me 11$ for parking, 3$ for tolls...and 4$ for coffee. good luck to all the other hunters, I don't think I'll make it back into the city to take a chance the area will be accessible.

You think YOU were stupid? I drove two hours to look for the darn thing. My hatred for Boston government grows more and more. That's all I can say.

Grrr.... Mad

Ifn I were you I wouldn't be mad at the Boston government, I would be mad at the promotional firm in charge of the hunt for not getting all their ducks in a row and getting permits!!

Re: Boston - Dr. Pepper Complain-to Person

Just spoke to someone at the Parks Department about the possibility of the locked place being unlocked... Dr. Pepper will not be granted permission to plant there, and if they have planted it there (he neither confirmed or denied) they will have to remove it. No one will be allowed in until it is taken care of, and the ice is gone.

As one of the Boston bunch, I called the Dr. Pepper HQ directly and left a polite-but-annoyed message with one of the people in the promotions department. Feel free to share the love:

Call "1-972-673-7000"

Hit "0" for the Operator

Ask for "Kirsten Flannery" in the Dr. Pepper Promotions department.

Don't forget to give CLEAR and PRECISE information about where the coin should be and why you can't get in without breaking the rules of the game.

It was nice to meet you all!

Honestly, this is typical of Boston. For the birthplace of independence, they're awfully fond of permits. Besides, asking for permission is just asking to be told no. Smile

I am ticked at the promo people, too, just so you know. I think the location was in poor taste, if nothing else. If they'd stuck to Boston Common, they probably wouldn't have had this problem.

I still wouldn't have found the coin (someone else would have beat me to it), but then I'd have felt free to spend my time sightseeing and stuff.

New Boston Location?

Boston

Do you suppose the Soft Coin people will hide the coin in a new location?

I'm out about $35 bucks for Dr. Pepper bottles, 22 of which are still littering the floor of my office Very Happy

Parallel

Another thing, as an interesting side note to folks who don't live in Boston...

We had another mass marketing nightmare about 3 weeks ago here, which disrupted traffic in the city for a whole day. Police and fire crews responded to what they thought was a terrorist threat but was actually glowing LED displays advertising Comedy Central's Aqua Teen Hunger Force show placed around town on bridges and overpasses. So that's playing into everyone's bad temper as well.

Western Canada Coin

Well it is officially over for me.

I got an email about 10 minutes ago (I sent an email to the DrPepper help on the bottom of the clue page) saying that both the Virtual coin and the coin in my region had been found.

With that being said the coin was hidden in Calgary, Alberta
