BOSTON HUNT CALLED OFF

The Boston hunt is over--

Thank you for playing Dr Pepper's HUNT FOR MORE in Boston. Due to unforeseen circumstances at Granary Burying Ground, the coin location, we have closed this Hunt. The prize value of this coin was $10,000. In accordance with the Official Rules, we have decided to conduct a random drawing among eligible participants who received the clues by February 22, 2007 to direct them to this location. We will be contacting you again next week after this drawing has been concluded to let you know the outcome. Thank you again for your interest in Dr Pepper and the HUNT FOR MORE in Boston.

Sincerely,

Dr Pepper Support Team

Note to MikeC
Calm down

MikeC
How could you find 3 Dr Pepper coins in one place when clearly that is not the official game. Where did you find 3 coins? what city?
No one likes fraud, but why would you think Dr Pepper did something like that. No one gets your rant because we don't know why you would find 3 fake Dr Pepper coins. Am I getting this right?
Please explain and not just rant. What you are saying makes no sense.

RE: BOSTON HUNT CALLED OFF

I just got this email too. I guess that's a reasonable way to handle it.

Nearby the Granary Burying Ground is the Old City Hall which has a statue of Ben Franklin in front. If they had hidden the coin there, it still would have fit the clues well enough I think. I actually checked around this statue a few times in addition to hovering outside the locked gates of the Burying Ground.

Hunt 4 more

The Philly coin was found last night at Penns landing to the right of the Penns Landing Arch in an old electric box. I saw it with my own two eyes the kid was around 17 and said he only had 23 clues because he couldnt afford one more bottle.

Mistake in Boston

Some more thoughts I had about the whole Boston fiasco, if you'll indulge me.

If they had placed the coin on Friday or Saturday (as soon as the clues started getting very specific) then it would have been found on Tuesday morning while the Burying Ground was open but before the Park Service even knew there was a scavenger hunt occurring. I think it's only because they had people roaming around the cemetery looking for a coin that most likely HADN'T BEEN PLACED YET that there was a problem. I understand not wanting to leave the coin lying around for three or four weeks while someone unconnected with the contest could either find it or throw it away as litter, but it should have been placed as soon as the clues were detailed enough to have legitimate puzzlehunters at the correct location.

The circumstance I was dreading would have been if the Park Service had opened the Burying Ground Gates at 9am on Wednesday morning and all 15 of us waiting had madly dashed across the very slippery ice and snow the 40 meters to the Franklin tomb. I think people might have gotten hurt.

Brian

Boston Coin

They could have placed that coin anywhere along the Freedom Trail.

found it. You have to try to enter a new code to see it, but if you already have all 30 clues it won't let you. So create a new account and try and you will get this message:
