I am officially freaked out. Really [censored]ing freaked out. Clearly, the forum is for killers. Sick, sadistic killers. It's been around since 2004 (hopefully faked). The blog's been around since summer 2006 (hopefully faked). Either this has been long in the making, the videos and blogs have all been timestamp faked... Or... This is a hoax. Or real. Scary.

Possibilities:

1. This is an ARG.

2. This is a hoax.

3. This is some kind of non-traditional fiction told through other mediums that has been out for a while (and only recently was discovered).

4. This is real.

Although unlikely, the possibility of 4 scares me. *shudders* I've been on the blog and on the forum now, so I'm tracable, too. I'm seriously scared.

Future PMs, take note: people will not want to play your game if they think there is even a remote possiblity it is real.

That said... I think I'm already too far into this to back out any more. Just know that... I think I'm leaving the 'interaction' part of this (hopefully) ARG to you guys. XD

---

Edit: Did a little thinking about why there is no way this is real. This is primarily to make me feel better.

The forum (which is the thing that's really scaring me) has been around for a long time. If it were real, the police would've taken care of the people there by now. No reasonable person would so nonchalantly put info about their killings online.

Quote:
He wants you to think it's a game. It's fake.

He wants you to believe just enough.

His lies are more honest than the truth.

Everyone who posted here is gone now except me. Listen to this. Realize the gravity of the situation and qu

In my limited experience, this is very ARGish."He wants you to think it's a game" is pretty clearly a reference to TINAG... Unless, of course, this is real. *shudders*

Um... Have any of you been 'changed' by the videos? It seems we're all equally creeped out, but I've felt no desire to kill anyone--and it doesn't seem like any of you guys have, either.

Ah! Just thought of something. We should do a whois on the site the forum's hosted on. That should tell us a little bit, at least.

Edit Again: Also, looks like we should archive the blog before it's shut down.

Edit 3:

Ok... I did a whois. I'm slightly less disturbed--it looks like it was only registered in December 06, meaning that (if this is an ARG), then the PM has been planning since then. Must've fooled the timestamps, then. I hope.

who is theresa? she signed up to get a video and when i checked out her blogger profile and her personal blogs i found this:

A place of my own
Well... by the time anybody who knows me reads this, hopefully it will all be in the past... I want a record of my life that nobody knows just yet. But one day will finally understand

Can't tell if this is a plant from our guy or if its someone from here. Also, AFAIK we're the only ones tracking this thing, right? Everyone else on the net seemed to have lost interest when the broadcast signal intrusion story turned out to be fake.

Rekidk, I wouldn't worry too much. I doubt this guy could track you down, if it was all real. I'll admit the cubing forum does unsettle me, though.

while i'm not sure if i'd swear on my life that the happy cube was real, they could very easily get away with posting about killing people on there as long as they never came out and said anything specific. something like that seems to have happened with the last site they had and five people got arrested, and they were only making threats.

i also think its sort of implied that you have to be the official "owner" of the video to be severely and noticably effected by it.

previous owners
------------------------
Daniel Cable - decased, possibly suicide.
Donald Wilson - deceased (with an actual obituary to back it up)
GMiller - went insane for a while. still questionable.

i also have a feeling that Jack Q. Pembry owned the second video, the one Gmiller said he didn't know who had. it makes sense if you go over the blog.

hmm okay. thehappycube.com was registered in '06. but, the forum could have existed before that. it's a proboards forum that could have been hosted on their site before '06 when it was redirected via thehappycube.com

i have several close contacts in the east village of nyc who can look into this address, i'll get on that.

Can anyone call the (917) number associated with the registrant of the domain name? That's a NYC mobile phone number. I can't make long distance calls from work. I'll work on the name though.

hahahahahah oh god. I need to delete that. That's me. lol. I forgot I had started a journal at one point in time on there, during my angsty teenage days. *dies of embarassment*

Hm... Looks like one of the 'censored' words is kill. It looks to be replaced with 'hug.' That would keep the police off their trail...

*Freaked out again*

Edit:

I'm going to try to create a key for the censored words.

Hug = Kill
Sleeping = Dead
Friend = Victim
Smile at = ??? (method of killing?)
Kissed = ??? (method of killing?)

Ex. of Hug:

Quote:
I was thinking we could visit a haunted house before CC if we go to Tennessee. I know that a lot of Cubers are skeptics, but I still don't see how it couldn't be fun. At the least it'll fill some time.

Edit: Well at least we know the filters work. Too bad it filtered the wrong use of the word.

---

Also... The YT Vid was recent, remember? So the guy who posted that is probably still alive, right? Or maybe the original owner passed it onto him? Gah.

that's ok, arbolita. the only reason i wondered is because the links to the page were all dead and the other blog page didn't have such a serious tone (i.e. mentioned working out and clay aiken)... i thought it might have been a plant, like the youtube user info for the 2nd video which states the user is a cvs clerk into cable tv shows and backyard wrestling. thanks for clearing it up for us!

friendster profile for aaron lackman. this guy couldn't be the creator of the whole thing. doesn't seem like a serial killer to me. more like your typical east village artsy fartsy hipster.

after going over the list of people who have or may have owned an original copy of the video, i don't think i'm going to sign up. i mean, i don't really believe in the paranormal or anything, but better safe than sorry.

---
also, jack's personal website is very obviously a freeservers website. it's like geocities, and i imagine aaron lackman is the employee who registered the domain for jack.

true but if lackman were the employee i doubt his personal yahoo email would be used for the domain registration.

something i'm not clear on. thehappycube.com... that doesn't direct to a page anymore. did it ever? can we conclusively link the domain thehappycube.com to the cubing forum or jack?

Not sure. It seems like they used to use real hosting, but switched to freehosting. IF they were being truly careful, they would've used freehosting way-back-when to avoid police whoising them.

Also... In my experience w/ Blogger, I've never been able to change the timestamp. Then again, I've never spent a lot of time playing with it. I do know, though, that you can edit your posts at any given time.

i take it you've never had a freeservers website. they are incredibly incompetent, and i wouldn't put it past them to have employees register websites as if they were their own.

still, i don't think it'd hurt to get in contact with him.

oh, and i got so tired of not being able to edit my posts, i registered. i guess i'm in on the long haul.

I checked this morning. Blogger allows you to change the timestamp on posts.
