Just copy/paste the full link from your browser's address bar.
http://www.cadmeanrecruiting.com/
the forum will activate it for you. (The other method involves the buttons on the reply form, but that's only necessary if you have a long URL that you want to hide under a clickable word like this.)

Back from a brief hiatus, and am all caught up now. I'm having problems registering for the forums, I prolly fat fingered my email addy, but hopefully Phil can help me out with it.

The only thing that hasn't been brough up so far is that Megan had just started working for Vanadium Network Solutions when she started hearing the voices - I've been looking for a 'company site' but haven't found anything as of yet. But Tipsila and I were conversing, she mentioned that
Vanadium
Quote:
Vanadium pentoxide is used as a mordant in dyeing and printing fabrics and in producing aniline black for the dye industry. Vanadium compounds are used in the ceramics industry for glazes and enamels.
and
Quote:
The physical properties of vanadium are very sensitive to interstitial impurities.

Megan committed suicide by drinking bleach, what does bleach do to color?

Just a bit of SPEC that I thought I'd throw out into the universe.

I guess I should explain why I found that to be interesting.

A mordant is a substance that fixes dyes to materials, to make it colorfast. Bleach removes color, making something white or colorless.

I got another e-mail from Megan.

Quote:
I lost something. I put something away. I can still see it in the light between the trees. I'm trying to show you.

The light between the trees? No idea right now.

I also sent an e-mail to Cadmean Recruiting and got two responses. First this automated one:
Quote:
Congratulations on taking the first step towards a high-quality employment solution with Cadmean Recruiting!

Your email has been received and one of our trained case managers will be in contact with you at the earliest opportunity to discuss your future temping needs.

Then this one:
Quote:
Hi Katie!

Thanks for mailing Cadmean Recruiting, the leader in Canberra-based temporary employment and
recruitment services.

Cadmean currently has over 150 high-quality temping positions open on its books, in fields ranging
from healthcare to hospitality. If you're interested in obtaining work in one of our challenging
career-promoting jobs, then flick us your resume, including information about your preferred fields
and levels of employment. Then our quality matching officers will do the hard work and find you
your perfect workplace!

Remember to include your desired username and password, so you can access your listing on Cadmean's
online database.

If you've got any other questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Regards,

Tessa Watson
Cadmean Recruiting

Tessa commented on one of Phillip's recent blog posts, so the site is definitely part of the game.

Great find katiepants! i'm off to actually start emailing!

WOW - they're quick:

I sent:

Quote:
To Whom It May Concern,

I am extremely interested in working with your company to place me in a fast-paced, career oriented company. I have 5 years reception experience, including multi-lined phone, messaging and customer interface.

I am located in Canberra, Austrailia and have recently heard that Vanadium Network Solutions may have an opening. If it as all possible I would like to interview with them, as I live extremely close to the location.

Thanks,
A. Ba

autoresponse, then right after that:

Quote:
Mr Ba,

We thank you for your interest in potential positions with Vanadium
Network Solutions. Vanadium is
just one of over a hundred workplaces throughout the greater Canberra
region registered with
Cadmean Recruiting.

While I'm personally unaware of whether we currently have any listings
from Vanadium on our books,
if you can send through a full resume I'll submit it to our matching
officers and let them know of
your strong preference for employment with that company.

(You're the second person who's mailed today asking after Vanadium!
Word of mouth sure travels
fast in Canberra! It's like they say - the rest of the world has six
degrees of separation;
Canberra only has two! You'll have to let me know what's so attractive
about working for these
guys.)

Remember to include your desired username and password, so you can
access your listing on Cadmean's
online database.

If you've got any other questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Regards,

Tessa Watson

*guess I should let them know I'm a 'chick' Wink

Double post, sorry - didn't wanna edit again:

I'm in to the Cadmean Recruiting Site - I submitted a 'resume' and in the body of the email I put in my suggested user id and pw...

Here's my response:
Quote:
Dear Ms Ba,

Apologies for the gender mixup in my last email! Spotted my error in
your resume - I'm so sorry!

In any case, your resume has been received and added to the Cadmean
database. You can check what
you've submitted from the main Cadmean page using your username and
password. (They're not case
sensitive, by the way.)

Now that we have your resume, I'll pass it on to our matching officers,
who'll get in touch with
you as soon as a suitable opening becomes available.

(By the way, where's St George's Terrace in Canberra? I know there's a
street by that name in
Perth but I've never heard of one out our way.)

Regards,

Tessa Watson

I wonder if there is a connection between the fourth wall and the fifth rail. Breaking the fourth wall is usually used to refer to a character in a play or movie addressing the audience; what does that make the fifth rail?

Geez, I go away to play D&D for one night and everything I'm playing updates. Laughing Those who have her friended on LJ, it looks like we're all now friended back. (I'm carnage533, just in case anyone was wondering about that.) She also made an entry, just a map, one of those add your location things. I did that (unless I'm horribly off, katiepants and I are rather close to each other) and then it occurred to me that maybe the map was supposed to have some kind of clue in it. She's asking people to find her vision and to find her, so it's possible that the map was supposed to serve that purpose?

EDIT: Cadmean has a very large gif of the word vision on their site. Megan asked us to find her vision. I'm checking the gif out now, but I think we either found her vision by finding Cadmean or are at least on the right track. It's also possible we're meant to find her username, since a recent email says she wants us to find her.

Son of EDIT: Did anyone else receive emails from someone named David? This is what I got.

On Phillip's blog you wrote:

Hey, uh...you don't know me, but a few friends of mine received emails from whoever this person claiming to be your sister is. It seemed like old mails, but there were coded messages in them and some new text, all jumbled together. You can IM me using AIM at SamRey56 or email me at carnage897SPLATyahoo.com if you want to talk more about it, I'd like to help in any way I can.

I would like to get to the bottom of this too.

Are you able to send the messages on to me? Or to Phillip to put up on his forum?

Cheers

Dave

He's also got quite a few websites linked in his signature. He seems to be a web developer, but I haven't checked the sites yet.

I also think we might need to figure out her username and password, but I don't have a clue where to start. We know she's obsessed with Peter Pan. Her blogspot name, Moira Angela, was Wendy's middle name in the book. Unfortunately I'm not at all familiar with Peter Pan - I've only seen the Disney version, years ago. But here's a link to a complete online edition (you can also do keyword searches of the text, which may come in handy): http://www.online-literature.com/barrie/peterpan/

She labels most of her darker blog entries Abraxas, and wrote it on her arm before she committed suicide. Here's some info on Abraxas:
Quote:
The word Abraxas (or Abrasax or Abracax) was engraved on certain antique stones, called on that account Abraxas stones, which were used as amulets or charms. The name is found in the Greek Magical Papyrii, and the word may be related to the word abracadabra, although other explanations exist. The name is also found in Gnostic texts such as the Gospel of the Egyptians. Abraxas has also been variously claimed throughout the centuries to be an Egyptian god, a demon, or a being associated with the dual nature of Satan/Lucifer... The letters of Abraxas, in the Greek system of alphabetic numerology, sum to the number 365, and the Basilideans gave the name to the 365 orders of spirits which, as they conceived, emanated in succession from the Supreme Being. These orders were supposed to occupy 365 heavens, each fashioned like, but inferior to that above it; and the lowest of the heavens was thought to be the abode of the spirits who formed Earth and its inhabitants, and to whom was committed the administration of its affairs.

And here are the meanings of Cadmean:
Quote:
Of or pertaining to Cadmus, a fabulous prince of Thebes, who was said to have introduced into Greece the sixteen simple letters of the alphabet - Cadmean letters.
Cadmean victory: a victory that damages the victors as much as the vanquished; probably referring to the battle in which the soldiers who sprang from the dragon's teeth sown by Cadmus slew each other. Similar to a Pyhrric victory.

So there's a lot of info, but I don't know what to make of it.
I haven't received any e-mails from anyone else.

EDIT: Someone left a comment on Megan's livejournal page asking what happened to her. There was an anonymous response:
Quote:
I'm in the shadow of the tower.

In one of her blogspot entries, Megan mentioned a tower:
Quote:
And I don't know what happened then, but the next I remember I'm free, and on the streets, and the dark clouds have come up from over the world, leaving the sky that wonderous airy Canberra blue. The tower on Black Mountain is catching the sun, and shining, and it's clear in my mind that this has all been inevitable, a mere act of maintenance that I should have performed long ago.

The Telstra Tower is a Canberra landmark: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telstra_Tower
So I guess she's still in Canberra?

I was just checking Philips latest blog, and Chase has left a website:

Letting go - http://xkcd.com/

I think you should shut down the website. All this shit that's going around, it's not making any of this easier on you, or any of us. Hell, I miss her too - this isn't helping.

ETA: I guess I could make it a little easier:

Here's the pic and if you hover over it, it says

Quote:
At least I never gave her the root password.

That post was from 15 January - the day she quit her job. So, she could be anywhere, now.
