It's too late for me to figure out how this was supposed to be solved. I just did it via trial and error based on what I knew certain words had to be and then using the same flaps throughout. I'll try to work out the real solution tomorrow.

Just to explain the method on this one... The insurance card is 'signed' Creation. There are 8 letters in 'Creation'. Hence: C = key1, R = key2, E = key3, A = key4, T = key5, I = key6, O = key7, N = key8

So the subscript letters correspond to these numbers for the flaps.

New Post compiling all we know about Dr. Genero.

Quote:

Dr. Salvatore Genero - Fri, March 2, 2007

As you may have seen from the sub-standard images I posted to the most recent journal page entries, I am still without a properly working scanner. Hopefully I can pick one up after I get back into town and post more pages, but right now I'm too busy with other matters...

Given the recent discoveries from certain restricted areas of M-A-R-A.org, it seems that Dr. Genero, the head of my grandfather's top-secret Project Rainbow, may be more deeply involved with events both past and present than I had thought. In addition to compelling evidence that Genero was a Nazi expatriate who did bizarre and horrifying experiments in the 1950s, it has been speculated that he also may be the "The Miller"--the infamous, underground body-mod guru whom Jon Paine was going to see when he disappeared in December.

I will be leaving this weekend to meet with M-A-R-A's Nate Shiffer in Florida, and the subject of Dr. Genero will be at the top of my agenda. In an effort to organize my thoughts on this matter, I am compiling the information we have learned about Genero in this blog entry. If you have any other ideas, theories, or suggestions, please discuss them in the Monster Hunter Forum (a rather apropos place, I think, when you consider the following.)

Also, I posted the entire thing in the Quick Links thread stickied at the top of the forum. It seemed useful to have as a general summary as part of the Story so Far...

[Update] March 7 - Tragedy in Homestead Florida
No more hints from Nate :(

Matt wrote:
Tragedy in Homestead - Wed, March 7, 2007

I'm back in NYC now. Unfortunately, I didn't get to ask Nate Shiffer any questions.

I flew into Miami Monday, rented a car, and drove to Homestead, where I checked into a hotel. I got there a day early so I could get the lay of the land a bit and check out the place we'd be meeting. I was supposed to meet Nate at a restaurant at 6PM yesterday. When he didn't show up after 30 minutes, I called him but just got voicemail. Another 15 minutes, voicemail again. I was getting a bad feeling and wanted to get out of there, so I left and just started driving. I ended up driving to Nate's house--it's also the business address for M-A-R-A--and rang the doorbell. No answer. I went around to the side of the house and found an unlocked gate. I walked in, the bad feeling now twisting my stomach in knots.

I found Nate's body floating facedown in his pool. I called 911 and spent the next couple hours being questioned by the authorities. I basically told them I was meeting Nate to see if he knew anything about my Dad, also a Vietnam Vet, who I'd never known. I didn't get into all this stuff with Dr. Genero, The Miller, Cryptidtruth, or my NYC dorm being burglarized, because honestly, I was pretty freaked out and just wanted to get out of there. I figured telling them, "I think Nate may have been murdered by a crazy Nazi scientist who may also have killed or mutilated several pierced and tattooed freaks because he was about to blow the lid off his plan to populate the earth with armed fish," would definitely complicate things, and would probably not do much good.

Nate was in his bathing suit and there was near-empty margarita pitcher beside the pool, so the cops just ruled the death an accidental drowning. I did tell the guy I found it odd that his two other partners had both died from drowning in the last couple years, but he just shrugged. Telling him the whole story really would have been useless. Whoever did this got what he wanted--Nate Shiffer's silence. I imagine he also probably got whatever evidence may have been in Nate's house, or at least is resting confident in the knowledge that I won't get it. And Nate had no family, so there's no one else to kill. Except for me, I guess. I was very glad I'd checked into my hotel under an assumed name, a precaution I'd thought to be overkill at the time.

I flew back home today, still feeling shocked and saddened. Nate seemed like a nice guy, and I feel terrible that this happened. I can't help but feel at least partly responsible for his death. But at the same time, it has strengthened my resolve even more to get to the bottom of all this. To expose whoever did this and bring them to justice, so that Nate, my father and grandfather did not lose their lives in vain.

I was heartened a little bit when I got home and found that I'd finally gotten those cut-up film strips back from the lab. I will be posting these ASAP.

[UPDATE] Cut-up film strips

Matt has posted those pieces of film. It looks to me like this is footage from Matt's grandfather sneaking into Dr. G's secret lab:

Here are some of those film clips I got back from the lab, as randomly as I sent them. It sure doesn't look like golf, though.

Jason & I have come up with the following sequences we *think* are correct

a-h
k-q
b-l-o-g
m-y-i
e-v
f-x
p-w-j-s

We still don't know where c-d-n-r-t-u or z fit in - yet!

Looks like the proper order will create a message leading to a blog & a password Smile

Not sure where this message is leading, but "blog wouldn't quite fit if the message was left by Dr. T cutting up the film strips back in 1967. On the hand Matt's grandfather mentions "golf" in his journal entry concerning the film, maybe "flog"? Also notice that you've got both a-h and e-v paired, if those four strips go together you'd get "evah" or "have" backwards.

The question is who labeled the clips a-z. If they were set up with those letters in the 1960's, then blog wouldn't be right. But if they were relabeled before posting....who knows. I like the idea of the backwards message. May make the linking easier with that in mind. But that means "pwjs" won't make sense....unless there is both forward AND backward words. Damn.

If not Dr. T, then my guess is Matt would have been the one to label them a-z, he is the one who posted them. But then why is he sending us secret messages? Confused

ETA-Since there are only 26 video clips (a-z), did Dr. T or whoever, come up with a new pangram? Shocked
