I haven't done a complete exhaustive attempt to try to link the clips, but I disagree with some of the ones identified by RedHatty. The only definitive pairings that I can find so far are:

a-h
f-x
y-i
e-v
b-l

I am comparing the first and last frames of each vid. Some of the clips start with several frames of black at the beginning that seem to be a lack of video, rather than shots of the inky-dark room.

Matt showed us a picture of the clips in a box, here. I don't see how they could have come with the labels a-z if they were simply found in a clump like that, unless there were other markings on them, at the edges. Perhaps we should ask Matt about that?

EDIT: A couple of other strange things I noticed. If you look at the "v.wmv" clip, it is 12 seconds long, and it seems to repeat itself twice: once during sec 1-6 and then again from sec 6-12. Also, the "e.wmv" clip, which is 6 seconds long, contains a single black frame almost exactly halfway through, at 3 seconds. Perhaps the puzzle is not in the names but in the content somehow? Or, another thought, perhaps one of the things shown in the video will lead us to the NKP password?

It looks like it's now been chopped in half and is now only 6 seconds long.

It is possible that there is no code in the letters... but we do need to string the film clips together to get an idea of what is being shown. And that might identify a "password" for one of the m.a.r.a. sites.

The lettering may only be Matt's way of identifying the different film pieces. But at least it gives us a way to order them and communicate the different findings until the actual order is figured out.

Keep up the great work! Gives me something to look forward to when I get home from RL work today.

compiled all the clips together with notes - showing the various sections I could get together and then I added some music to cut the monotony... you can mute if you want Smile

I didn't personally gain anything out of that - no idea what to do for passwords or anything, but perhaps having them together someone else can discover what I cannot.

Note: as always youtube might take a period of time to process

[UPDATE] more film strips

Matt, bless his helpless soul, posted more film clips on RoD:

Quote:

Here are the rest of the cut-up film clips. Jas0n has graciously edited together the first batch so they're easier to watch.

They are coded "aa" to "be" and they match up with some of the clips weve already seen.

PLUS, in the first moments of Video 27 (aa.wmv), the camera pans across a very clear box of "Aromatic Spirit of Ammonia" (see attached). So this should lead to the password for NKP, right??

Matt has posted a new entry on RoD. Apparently it is his grandfather's last (?) journal entry, which describes whatever we are supposed to be seeing on these film clips. I don't know how in the heck we were ever supposed to extract any of this from that footage, but there you go..

Here's a transcript since Matt hasn't done it yet:

Quote:
Final journal entry, 10/19/66 - Sun, March 11, 2007
My grandfather's last entry. It would appear that the cut-up film strips show what he saw just before writing this last frantic paragraph.

Quote:

10/19/66
0230, don't know when G is coming back and I need to act fast. Almost got caught, don't know how much time I have. There's no more hope. Project Rainbow is a RAINBOW OF DEATH! Wrapped my camera and flashlight in plastic bags and got into the lab by swimming the Mekong, around the barbed wire, got in through the back. G is working on his own unholy creations, nothing to do with PR. There were candles burning inside, tried to film but had to use flashlight. Skulls, specimens in jars, species I didn't even recognize. Mutilated, surgically altered creatures, amputated human body parts.

Body on table, covered with a ragged blanket, pulled away -- charred black, blackened tongue stuck out in agonized grimace. Glassy eyes stared back at me. Worse fears true -- labled Tinneman. Heard a noise and dropped to the floor to hide, covered myself with a blanket. Something tried to grab me. Something not human. Oh God, Grace what am I going to do? I'm wrapping the journal and everything up, will get sent to you. I have to leave before dawn. Grace, I love you and John Jr. so much. Don't ever forget that, no matter what happens.

Matt's old film clips compilation

Here (Hmm, the quality is fuzzy on google. )
is my attempt to piece together the old clips of film from John Wheeler's collection. I've been working on it for days, and still, it's far from spot on.
But, I'm posting it with the hope that it may give someone some ideas for the mara password.
Attached is the order I used. Building on the work and suggestions from Rowan, dante, and Jas0n. Suggestions/ corrections are welcomed.

WoW!!! Amazing job. However, it's hard to read the order you put them. Can you type out the letters in order?

And you are right, I suspect that the NKP password has to be one of the items visible in the video.

Wow what a great job! Obviously there are some segments still missing, but I don't see how its gonna get much better than that. I was playing with was using the last journal entry as a guide to the order:

Quote:
There were candles burning inside, tried to film but had to use flashlight. Skulls, specimens in jars, species I didn't even recognize. Mutilated, surgically altered creatures, amputated human body parts.

Body on table, covered with a ragged blanket, pulled away -- charred black, blackened tongue stuck out in agonized grimace. Glassy eyes stared back at me. Worse fears true -- labled Tinneman. Heard a noise and dropped to the floor to hide, covered myself with a blanket. Something tried to grab me. Something not human.

This would give:
1) candles
2) skulls
3) specimens/jars
4) species
5) mutilated creatures
6) amputated body parts
7) charred body
8.) hand reaching

That doesn't include the boxes/supplies, though, among other things. I'm not sure it's worth trying to rework it at this point though. If it isn't obvious what we're supposed to spot here (like the ammonia), then I'm at a loss..

EDIT: you should email that link to Matt, if you haven't already done so

Done

EDIT:
I got this response from Matt:
Quote:
Yeah, I guess you heard the terrible news.

The video looks pretty smooth to me, tell your friend thanks a lot for doing that. I'm not sure what good it'll do at this point, though, it just seems like Genero is unstoppable. I was feeling fairly hopeful about what Konamouse emailed me, but even if Genero hasn't found out what we know yet, it just seems like he's always a step ahead. We're all pretty much at a loss as to what to do now.

Thanks for trying, though.

Matt,

Well since Sun-yi was obviously too busy/occupied to

Drizjr has pieced together probably as good a guess at
how the clips should be assembled as anything. It can

[UPDATE] Portrait of a monster

Quote:
Portrait of a monster - Fri, March 16, 2007

So Dr. Genero, aka Erich Miller, aka The Miller, is still alive and, in the words of Konamouse, "tall, skinny and 91 years old." With the recent connections being made, in the back of my mind I'd been thinking The Miller was probably a descendant or protege of Dr. Genero. After all, how could someone my grandfather considered an "older" man 41 years ago still be a threat today? Nonagenarians sit in nursing homes waiting for someone to feed them, they don't go on global killing sprees. But in case there was any doubt, Cryptidtruth forever dispelled any notions that Genero is an ordinary old man.

Ah, Cryptidtruth. Such irony in that moniker, at least the second word.

I got an email from RedHatty late last night with the subject line "Your Dad," which definitely got my attention. She said she'd found the name "WHEELERJC" in the Slack Farm section of M-A-R-A (UN: SFKY, PW: projectelf. Be warned, though, there are some gruesome images in there.) She said it also appeared he was alive in 2005-2006.

I read the text file there several times, wondering how a lady who'd been so kind to me could suddenly be so cruel, messing with my head after all we've been through. Then I saw it, spelled backwards--part of M-A-R-A's filename conventions. RedHatty was right.

In her email, she also said:

I know this is going to sound really "out there" but I have a funny feeling that Cryptidtruth IS your dad, although why he would hide his identity from you, I can't begin to guess.

Honestly, it doesn't really sound all that "out there" to me. The thought has been nagging at the back of my mind for a while now, although I've been trying to deny it. No, the really "out there" part is how my father, if this is true, could have kept this from me my whole life. Seeing that text file was like a punch in the gut. How could my father do this to me? How could he do this to my mother? Did she know, or did she go to her grave thinking he'd been dead almost 20 years?

I've got such a sickening blend of emotions churning in my head right now that I feel paralyzed. There's confusion, obviously. Guilt, that my stupid, incessant digging in my mother's attic led to Sun-Yi's parents being killed. Worry, that she may be walking into a deathtrap herself, and I can do nothing to stop her. Not only that, but the slap in her face that my own father may still be alive, while hers is not.

I know this sounds awful, but in a strange way, I almost envy Sun-Yi. Right or wrong, at least she seems to have a clear path to follow. I feel powerless. Why couldn't I have heeded my mother's advice and just thrown the contents of her attic in the trash?

I'm so sorry, Sun-Yi. Please come home safely.

[UPDATE] Rainbow of Death - March 18th

Link.
Quote:
A new beginning - Sun, March 18, 2007

I'm sure most of you already saw yesterday that my site had been hacked and redirected to this page:

http://www.rainbowofdeath.com/remoteaccess/webcam.html

So why did I leave this page up, instead of deleting it, never looking at it again, and even possibly undergoing hypnotherapy to forget I'd ever seen it? Isn't it a little morbid? Perhaps. But to me, it's a gift.

You see, I already grieved for my father years ago. And based on the looks of the second video, I'm sure he was gone instantly and without suffering. He died knowing he was doing the right thing.

A few weeks ago, RedHatty emailed me to try to help smooth things over between Derek and me. I told her I didn't think he'd ever understand the loss I'd felt, and I hoped for his sake he never would. At the time, Derek was grousing about a bunch of missing toys, and I told Red, "I would give up every toy, every possession I ever had to spend one more day with my mother, or to just meet my father or grandfather." Well, I got my wish.

When "Cryptidtruth" said the words "Matt, my son" it was like a magical incantation, a spell that finally set my soul free. Somehow all the years of sadness, anger and pain I'd been holding inside were suddenly lifted from me. The way he uttered those three little words made me realize the sacrifices he'd made for my mother and me my whole life. Living in exile, giving up what he loves most in the world, not seeing his child grow up...precisely so that his child could grow up. Even if I didn't get to meet him in person, or see his face, I am still grateful. We made a connection, however fleeting, that I will cherish forever. I have forgiven him for the mistakes he made, because I know that he made them with the best of intentions. Sun-Yi, I don't know if you can ever forgive me for what my actions may have caused, but I at least would like to tell you how sorry I am, face to face.

I want to give thanks to all my friends who helped me along the way, like WolfHawk, molecularr, degravity, enaxor, Rowan, Jas0n, DanteIL, konamouse and all the other amazing Monster Hunters whose names I may have forgotten to mention. And especially RedHatty, whose heartfelt, kind and understanding emails really helped me through some rough times. You all have helped rid the world of a great evil that we Wheeler men have been trying to do for forty years. But it's not over yet.

Now that I know what really happened to my father and grandfather, I've decided to devote myself to spreading the truth about Project Rainbow, and the veils of government-sanctioned lies that have kept it hidden for four decades. It is my duty to continue the legacy of the Wheeler men, and make sure the circumstances that would foster another Rainbow of Death are never allowed.

But for right now, I'm just going to plop down on the couch with Derek, play some video games, pass out and hopefully sleep for a long, long time.
