 [TRAILHEAD] tCotSA
Greetings, Starfighter! You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the frontier....

Postmark canceled in Royal Oak, Michigan, the attached letter arrived in my postbox today. No return address except "tCotSA," and lettered in red on the reverse, "one one." Interestingly, the envelope is really not; it's actually a folded and much-taped piece of letter-sized paper.

...Okay, maybe that wasn't that interesting. Embarassed But my composure has been challenged!

we challenge your composure
we challenge your assiduity

we begin the Sedulous Amalgamation

instructions are as follows:

the Initial Challenge will be issued shortly. make ready to commence. astute participants who can answer the Challenge must dispatch their solutions with care, and exactly as instructed, via mail carrier to the following address:

tCotSA
PO Box 885
Bloomfield Hills, MI
48303

an operational return address should be included, for the sake of the next step:

after a healthy number of correct solutions have been received, components of the next Challenge will be mailed out. recipients of these components will be randomly drawn from the pool of correct solutions to the previous Challenge.

to solve all Challenges beyond the Initial Challenge, some manor [sic] of alliance within your ranks will be indispensable, but we will leave you to your own devices to sort out those details.

this system of distributing components of current Challenges randomly to contributors of correct solutions from the previous Challenge will continue until the final Challenge is solved.

be it noted: this is not an enterprise for those short of equanimity.

if you can complete all thirteen Challenges that compose the Sedulous Amalgamation, you will prove your collective sagacity. if you are unable to muster the acumen or constitution necessary for this escapade, you will reinforce our theories concerning ongoing cerebral degradation within the general populous [sic]. this would be disappointing to say the least.

make humanity proud.

sincerely,

the Committee of the Sedulous Amalgamation [<- handwritten -SB]

Wondering that myself. On the other hand is there a good way for a grass roots ARG to get started without spam email, IM, or a package sent to SpaceBass?

I mean... without spending A LOT of money?

Heck, even craigslist or ebay aren't orginal anymore! Shocked

Sorry to go somewhat wildly off-topic.

Back on topic... this looks kinda cool. At the very least someone broke out the dictionary! Smile

Most curious. I'll have my wits (and my thesaurus) ready when they go live.

Well, I had to use a dictionary to read that letter, so paint me interested.

Is the drawing on the bottom a puzzle of some sorts, or just an obscure logo? Very interesting, to say the least.

sic -- (intentionally so written (used after a printed word or phrase))

Using manor, a noun in this context makes no sense. Manner would however.

Per Wikipedia:

"Sic (pronounced as "seek") is a Latin word meaning "thus", "so", or "just as that". In writing, it is italicized and placed within square brackets — [sic] — to indicate that an incorrect or unusual spelling, phrase, or other preceding quoted material is a verbatim reproduction of the quoted original and is not a transcription error."

I'd say, don't open them.. if what I think is true, I used to know the guy who is sending these, who had this idea to launch his ARG.... hopefully I'm right, or else, I fear for your life Smile

Okay, this time I KNOW I'm right, I recognise the line puzzle. Which in turn means I can't play, as I already know what it means.... /me will just have to watch this unfold!

Well...

That's gotta be embarrassing...to go to that much trouble to use big words only to have two not-so-big words used incorrectly. There's no substitute for having a good proofreader.

Hope this turns out to be more interesting than the last game sent to his Spaceness. [/jaded]
