Erm, to actually add something to the conversation: Claire Castille does give V's description saying that he's male but Monica Grand says nothing to try and protect Pietro Salk. Shame that didn't work. As for the recording, every indication is that it's V doing the murdering (everyone else from the original team that Monica knew is dead and she recognises the attacker) but it isn't stated. So there is an extremely remote possibility that Claire lied to Scarlett and we've just repeatedly got the wrong end of the stick with V and Cyrus Quinton. But never let the word remote get in the way of good Violet-is-evil spec.
