Aesclepius and I went to the woods again this afternoon. Still no cube but we did find one of the raised hides off to the left of the path we'd decided on. It's also v close (~10m) to the corner of a pine area that looks right for the trees photo. There's a decent aerial photo here:

The hide is the white square in the centre of that photo, it's fairly visible from the path too. I'll post phone photo's when i get them transferred onto the PC. Somehow forgot to take my proper camera

Sorry Mods, I just want to put this in here in case people don't see it before they leave in the Morning.
Karen (Tally) and Tim (Chippy) myself will be in The Lord Burghley (a pub that runs parrall to the high street) in Stamford after we (probably fail) to find the cube at about five in the evening.
It's very central to the town which is ten min drive from the woods people will be running about like loons in.
Hope to see you (and the cube) there.
Chris

Well good luck everyone and if you do find it please post some large pictures so we can all see what has been bugging the hell out of us for the last 3 years, I still think we're missing something though to narrow the search down a little.

Kind of good luck To be honest, I don't want you to find this just yet cos it's got exciting again. Contrary I know. And I know I'll be mad that I was just 5 ammots away. However I hope you have an exciting day in glorious sunshine. It's a beautiful place to be, cubes or no. Despite getting up at 4.30 I was having so much better a time than if I'd gone to the work meeting I scived. If you can manage not to find it this weekend, I might be able to join you next. And to whoever was searching at the same time as me on Thursday morning, I would have liked to say hi. Just a shame my mobile went off about a holiday booking just as our paths crossed.

Idea Perhaps I had an idea I'm sure everybody has noticed the way all the cards are mainly named after something I think finding the woods (if it's not fineshade) will be a bit like read between the lines.
You start off by finding out that it says
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Blondie Album?
and then you find out
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the most appropriate Blondie album in this case Parallel Lines
and we do the same for the woods we have found out that they are where the strata is Jurassic or something like that and then we have to find the most appropriate woods....
Soo what do you think?

The_Cube pulls back his giant slingshot...*Giant swingshot flining noises*
Hey look a Cube...I'm looking for a cube have you seen anybody around your size lying around in a forest apart from yourself of course...Another eager cube hunter comes along and whacks The_Cube across the head with his shovel and takes that little nice man of about 10cm I was talking to..........
The_Cube wakes up from his coma 20 years later and figures out what a fool he was...

This may belong in another discussion, I'm really not sure at this point, but another thought I haven't seen brought up - I just got #58, Breaking and Entering, and remembered that the number of points it was worth had been erratted. I had to wonder...why? What difference would it really make? Is there some magic quality in the total number of points possible? That's irrelevant since there are options for bonus points, unless it's in the points possible just from the cards. Perhaps some of the point values are integral to the solution of the card or the meta. This especially hit home because this is one of the number sequence cards and Risk cards.
One other item - I've looked through a lot of posts, but I don't see anything tying this card in with the blob cards. Has the weird blemish at the bottom of the card been dismissed? If someone has a link to any previous discussion, I'd appreciate it.

Well I'm going to stick my neck out and say that I don't think its in Fineshade wood.
If we think back to the original clue :
Five fingers point:
Half the World - Northern Hemisphere
Realm - UK
Region - Somewhere within the jurassic strata marked on the map
Feature ???
Last mystery ???
We're still a long way from solving the last 2 parts, the cube could be in any wood in the jurassic strata part of the country.
I was just wondering if the name of this wood ''Fineshade'' could actually be the last mystery clue -
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
fine as in the latin for end ... shade = mystery.
bit of a stretch for mystery, but it would have to be cryptic to not be solved until the clues for the region (eg. Jurassic way 94?) and feature (arboreal?) were solved.
1st post - be gentle please!

Is everyone out there digging holes?
I think that would be premature.
As Mariner442 says we still haven't solved all the puzzles, and all I expect to be found for the present would be a futher clue.
I also don't think that we need to dig the cube up with a spade. This has been promoted as an international competition. If the cube has to be physically dug up then MC cangive away any idea of selling lots of wave 2 cards. Also when we find the cube we have to email the answer.
I think that we need to walk the Jurassic Way looking for the next clue. I also suspect it will tie together some of the discussions - colours and quadruperds as well as the DNA sequence. Possibly CT left a sign which we need to read. It would be identified in a way that only we recognise.
I am also intrigued by a particular card and think it gives a lot of pointers.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I refer to #188. Not only does it have number strings and blobs, it has horses, and it is by Anna - who has a lot of earth centric puzzles.
But best of all it has a blob (map piece) with a black circle on it. Check out where the circle is on the map - I get - The Jurassic Way at Wilbarston!!!

MC have said on many occasions that the Cube is buried (LOB pic, giving a UN issue entrenching tool as a prize at cubefest and Dan Hon saying a metal detector would be handy for finding the cube).

I don't want it to be found yet! I hope it's a prank. But huzzah to whoever it was if it has been rescued.
