Apparently there's been a cube shaped hole dug in the woods with a card placed on over the hole.

It was really close to a place we dug on Saturday, and thought it looked very very likely, without the aid of a metal detector. Tim turned up this morning WITH a metal detector and couldn't find anything else.

What's hugely frustarting about this was that we were thinking of getting a detecotr but decided against it due to the rumours of it not being useful.

Guys....it could be over!

digging around cube with spade showed that surrounding earth was disturbed, but that the hole we first came across didnt make that. The card was a bit moist, with the part next to the ground more wet. it had probably been there either overnight or longer.

location was about 10 metres from a quadruped green fence structure, in birch woodland.

There wasnt any other holes nearby, our spec was that someone must have rushed up there, with metal detector, and found it. We took some pictures, then filled in hole.

That's basically the gist of it.

All I can say is that if someone did find it, they are probably a member of one of the online communities, and would have posted a "yay, found it".

That, and the fact that there has been no announcement leads me to believe that someone probably just dug a bit and put a card down (possibly to let other people know that it was a cube head who made the hole).

plus I wasn't even convinced that there was a cast iron case for it being in one of the woods around there, apart from the fact that there were coloured paths and it was on the Jurassic Way.

If it has been found, it's a bit disappointing that it was found without solving all the meta puzzles!!

So no, they wouldn't have posted a "Yay, found it!" if they had read that. They are playing it safe, and making sure the Cube gets to MC before they celebrate, if they found it at all.

I suppose we just wait and see then.

But the rest of my comments stand it would be disappointing as the metas have not all been solved. Was there any reason to think that they should be in these woods in particular?

I think people found the red kites too much of a coincidence for that area not to have the cube. And there are various other things that hint it might be right. But no, I'm not aware of someone solving something that blatantly said "It's in them thar woods, now go dig".

Guess I wont be going up to the woods this weekend then!

Assuming of course that it isnt a hoax designed to "scare" everybody away so they can search in peace??

I believe it is a hoax... fineshade wood doesn't answer all the questions in my opinion.

Those of you that looked at this mystery hole and the 'quadruped fence' nearby, did you check the posts and match them to the photo? Does it have a 'middle leg' pointing towards the hole?

Well if it isnt in the woods somewhere why bother with the hoax?
If you knew where it really was you just keep stum and go dig it up while everybody else searches the wrong woods.

No I believe it IS in those woods, I've been away from the forums for a while but my solo solving also lead me there, just a shame I haven't been able to get up there to search!

Yes, the post does match to the photo, and yes, there is a middle leg pointing towards the hole. The reason we didn't dig there is because the other direction from the quadruped was a line of trees that matched the LoB page. The trees where this hole was were different.

Only one way to divide the masses...

Well who thinks the cube is found or not post Found or Not depending on your opinion.

P.S a poll would be just fine and dandy but noooo stupid post.....

P.P.S My recently changed opinion is somone was out Cubehunting in Fineshade WITH a metal detector (Obviously some people didn't listen 2 me) Beep beep BEEEEEEP! The dug the hole and then with no further use of it decided to chuck the end of the line card (which they had been using to find the damn thing) on the hole after all I think you could buy at least a few thousand of them with the prize money.

Found?

From whats been said on Perplexorum the apparent finding wasn't in Fineshade Wood it was in Wild Wakerley Wood which fits into the 4 8 4 gap thing that was a clue on LoB.

Looks like it could be it guys !
