That "music" at the start and end sound more like a simulated tape machine "spinning up" to begin playing.

@crimsyn: The voice sounds familiar because he sounds *remarkably* like Billy West, of Futurama and Ren And Stimpy fame.

Just FYI.

While I appreciate the intent, the tone comes off as a bit hostile. Which makes me wonder why you posted the FYI at all, since there's been minimal talk of this being related to ILB and no one even mentioned the website.

So an AIM-hijacking entity is using a file hosting site to share an audio clip, with a mild reference to bees (which lately tend to stink up an ARG)... I'd say no interest until more files are found.

Ayway, the gap between spool-up sound and voice was longer in ILB clips. This one does not sound right in that sense.

I posted in response to this:

I wasn't around for the "i love bees" (is that right?) arg for Halo wasn't it? But I think I did hear something about a sequel arg being done. With the reference to bees, maybe it has something to do with that?

And the tone isn't so much hostile as it is exasperated, not due to degravity's comment but toward the people reporting an unsubstantiated rumor as fact without bothering to check whether the site ever went away.

Dispelling a false rumor, that's all. Carry on.

It is very much based on ilovebees, in every way.

"Jan" is from Ilovebees
The voice is very similar to Jersey from Ilovebees (like an actor attempting to impersonate him)
The start and end 'wind up and down' sounds are very much the sounds from ilovebees.
The quote from AIM is also a tongue-in-cheek reference to ILB: "Did you know that after a bee stings you it dies? It can also sting you after it's dead. " Quoted from our beloved Durga.
Even the file name follows ilovebees conventions.

There is no debating that this audio is based on ilovebees.

Whether it's a spinoff, extension, arg or whatnot, that is the question. It's all but undeniable that it's not official from 42. The bee reference is likely referring to the idea that someone is now planning to revive the ilovebees story, thus an unofficial spinoff or sequel.

That said, so far that does not ruin its credibility as a potentially good arg if the PMs are on the ball.

Oh, I understand. I missed out on ILB but I've read up on it and it sounds like an amazing experience. So much so that even I, having not participated in the game, roll my eyes when I hear about sequels. Notice I don't step in and say anything when a post saying something is an ILB sequel gets jumped on. Hell, if I felt I had the right I'd probably jump on them too. But this one made it clear in the OP that they weren't going near the ILB reference. It is a fairly obvious one, not just with the bee reference but also with the presentation of the audio. I can understand beekeepers don't want to see this amazing experience they went through turned into something that a PM uses as nothing more than an attempt to ride on the coattails of a great ARG. I'm just saying that since there's nothing overtly saying that this is related to ILB (granted, it's definitely giving off that vibe) we should hold judgment on it until further information is discovered.

Also, like I said, I appreciated the intent. It's always good to keep people informed.
