But Yuki wants to be in a plastic bottle, not in a mug !!

We should not turn this into a bidding war between us players.

Agreed; let's keep this friendly. That said, this helps to support the game (which is corporate, not advertising anything, and free), and I think that pushing the price up a tad will be ok.

I personally will not be bidding as I live in the States and want the clues to get to us players asap. We already have to wait almost 5 days before they ship.

As long as one of them goes to a loyal player in GB (which it should), we will have the clues ASAP. Unless they all contain different clues...which would complicate things a bit. (I don't think the PMs would do that to us, though... If one person loses interest, or if one Yuki is snatched up by a non-player--we're screwed. XD) That's why they have six in the first place--to ensure that at least one makes it to us. Smile

Even if a non-player gets one I am sure they are including information directing recipients to the trailhead, or Eva's blog.

Plastic bottle, eh? Perhaps Youshi makes a nice tea as well. I can see his little head popping up out of the Timehole mug even now! Very Happy

Rekidk, since you seem to be the expert around here, answer a question for me.

Why do we need to support the game financially when they list a number of supporters at the bottom of this page and they sell T-shirts and coffee mugs (at ridiculous prices) that most other ARGs including grassroot ARGs give away as swag??

Personally, I think it's bad form for them to pit us players against each other especially for a simple stuffed toy. It's totally silly. I think they should have given it away as swag or they could have given us what we need via the Youshi website which so far has been useless. On top of all that, paying for clues is a big NO, NO.

I for one am disappointed with such action. I have not received anything, no poster, no letter nor email. And I have done a lot to support this game. I signed up back in December and spread the word to other players and brought them to this game.

And I would greatly appreciate it if you would STOP treating me like I'm a dumb a$$. Replying to all my post as if you are telling me something I don't already know.

----------------------

(I'm through ranting now, so back to the game:)

This makes me feel that Keir has more to do with Youkin than we know.

Holy [not sure if expletives are allowed here], Sylvia. I was trying to put in my opinion, not one-up you. I respect you a hell of a lot; you obviously know what you are doing and only have the best for the community at mind. I have never once intended to respond to you as though you are a dumb-anything, and I sincerely apologize if my responses ever came off that way.

You are correct. I had forgotten about all the sponsers. Forgive me.

Most of my posting is me sorting out what the hell is going on for myself, because, being new at this, oftentimes I don't understand things until I write them out. Maybe from now on I'll just write to myself in Word and print it out.

If I've ever argued with peoples' opinions or anything, it's not always that I disagree; sometimes someone needs to play devil's advocate. Essentially, by arguing one's point against another person, one improves their logic.

In the future, if you (or anyone else) has a personal issue or problem with me, I'd prefer you email me or PM me about it. I find this relatively offensive; I prefer to keep these sorts of battles private.

Rekidk, I apologize for being harsh on you. But the stuff I said relating to the overall game and the PMs still stands because it was not entirely directed at you.

You say you find it offensive that I brought this up in public, well it's in public that you have made snide remarks at me more than once and in more than one ARG and it was time it was brought to a stop in public for lies can be told about what goes on in private.

You are an excellent player. A very bright young man. You think fast and have great ideas. I'm very proud of you for taking an interest in such things with all the things that teens can get in to these days. But you have to learn as I did and others that it's OK to give your opinion (spec) but not by degrading another player, their opinion or their spec in the process. Sometimes the best thing to say is nothing at all.

I'm am truly sorry and now that we have gotten this out in the open we should be able to continue with a renewed respect for each other. I will not mention it again unless you do. Happy ARGing.

The way I understand it, this particular ARG is not "financially" supported by those listed companies. They've donated resources, sure - but the actors still need to eat, and webhosts still need paying. Grassroots ARG's are done on a voluntary basis, and usually don't have such high production values. On the flipside, corporate funded ARG's would give the supporting companies exposure, and feature advertising (like the Lost ARG or the new Transformers one).

So far, I haven't seen a single mention of HP, or any of the other supporters, besides the about page. Personally I think it's good that we are allowed to support the ARG like this, plus we get to take something away from it. There is no obligation to pay for anything here - it's purely something for the fans that want to donate. The game clues will keep coming regardless.

The CafePress stuff is expensive, because that's just how much EVERYTHING printed there costs - even at rock bottom settings. They are printed to order, which means no cheap discount for bulk screen-printing on t-shirts. I should know - I've tried using them myself and gave up when I saw how much stuff was to produce.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I didn't read his posts that way. He was just agreeing with you and then thinking out loud in his own tangent. There's nothing wrong with that. We're all on the same team here!

Ahhhhrg, mutiny in the ranks! Shocked

C'mon guys, it's only a game... no wait, TINAG... errm... This is not only a game.. no, errm... This is only not a game! (etc, etc.) Smile

The yukis are just a bit of fun and I really don't think its worth getting het up about on either side.

An important thing to remember is that every single person bidding at the moment is doing so because they want one. Very Happy (they are pretty cute!)
-If they thought they were obliged to get one because they thought it would progress the game, they wouldn't have outbid anyone!

I don't think we're being made to get anything. At most, all we would've needed to do is put in 50p each over paypal for one. But we didn't even need to do that! Razz

I can see where you're both coming from. I just don't think we've been given any good reason to demonise nor patronise. It's all good! (-if you want one, get one, you don't, don't Razz no probs!)

aww... I don't want tension! (makes my tummy all squiggly!) Lets hold hands and think loving thoughts... No, scrap that, that'd be awkward. But lets get along.

see! I knew Youshi was bad! (Ruddy screaming pencil wielding whales!) Laughing

ps. Thesis Title: Does excessive use of emoticons have a calming effect?

EDIT: & what Jediwannabe said!

Didn't really need to check the source, as the required letters are in bold, but well spotted Smile

Thank you. I both appreciate and accept your apology. I am also sorry that I have made snide remarks at you. I never intended for anything I've posted to be rude, though I see how it might have come off that way--especially on the internet. In the future, I will be certain to read what I write to make sure it could not be taken the wrong way.

Regarding what you've said about the PMs/supporters; after considering what you've said, I agree. The funding they receive through a couple lousy t-shirts and plushies is not going to come close to the funding (or other resources, etc.) they would receive from sponsers.

---

Moving forward... Wonder what kind of updates we'll get between now and Sunday? As several people have stated, there is probably a connection between Keir and Youkin; and that is probably how we'll get our next big puzzle (through the plushies). Wonder what Eva thinks of the whole thing?
