[WEBSITE] Keir Jones - 15th Jan
Puzzles galore!

As found by Olly, in the comments on Eva's blog.

Quote:
Hello Eva

I've got some information you need to see. It's really important that we get in touch. It's not just about Erwin.

http://www.keirjones.co.uk

The website contains several parchments with what looks like various code forms on them. Only three of these appear to be the right way around, while the others are a mirror image. Clicking a parchment will move it closer or further away.

Below the spinning parchments is the word "Enter:/*********" as if we are supposed to enter a password, but there is no text field to enter into.

I say that three images are the right way around, but I can't really be certain. I picked the one that is obviously text facing the right way around, and used the underlying pattern on the parchment (which has coils going from top to bottom, left to right) and used that as my basis for figuring out which was a mirror image, and which was normal.

I tried decoding the 0's and 1's one as if it was binary code, and came up with this:

Quote:
¤dØA´

So... either that one isn't backwards and just looks like it is, or it isn't binary code.

Or that mess of symbols means something. *shrug*

Maybe the backwards puzzles are red herrings, and we should just concentrate on the other three?

Aw, but all the backwards ones seem easier. Razz

No, but seriously, yeah, you're probably right. ^_^

Hmm... just blown my own theory out of the water now. Although there are indeed three images which have an underlying pattern in reverse to the others, there would appear to be one image backwards, one forwards, and one indeterminable.

I have starred the ones that are out of sync with the rest in the above list.

Hm... Images 4-8 have page numbers, while images 1-3 don't.

I don't know what to make of it; just noticed it.

Everything else seems to be backwards, too, now that I look at it. They almost all have a little number at the bottom, which I think is always backwards.

And there's sometimes a B on there, too, which is also backwards.

Maybe they're numbers - 20, 17, 18, 13, 16, 16, 13, 20? Or letters: tqrmppmt?

Here's what I've found so far:

Image 1 flips to say, "nam et ipsa scientia potestas est," which translates to "knowledge is power."

Images 4-8 are numbered, and each has either the letter A or B somewhere on it.

It's not much, but it's a start.

EDIT: de-spoilered. yanka.

One quick note about spoilers: please try not to overuse them! When it comes to puzzles, if it's not a solve or a solid partial solve - it's not a spoiler! Something that everyone can see is most definitely not a spoiler Razz

Not that it's anything useful, but:

- image3:
Quote:
Wirrsb

Wmpbsp
Dvyxwabmzo
Niastfov
Dvyxwjkxc

Krqgip
it's not a ROT; I haven't tried simple substitution yet

- image7:

10100 10001 10010 01101 10000 10000 01101 10100
or 11101101 00010010 10010011 00100000 01010010 if read vertically

EDIT: hm, I just noticed that image 5 (nubered "3") mimics the binary one:
Code:
10001
01111
10110
01111
01011
01010
01101
10100

It even repeats the binary one's two last lines.

Long time reader, first (or close to first) time poster:

Do some of the images need to be superimposed over others? I'm thinking mainly of the ones without text or numbers.

EDIT: And, not sure if this is obvious or not, but rather than inputting a password, "Enter: /******" means that we have to put in the answer as "www.keirjones.co.uk/******", I think? Which ought to take us to a new page.

I agree, ive been looking at overlaying pic 4 onto pic 5 seeing as it has the same number of binary chars to the balls but nothing so far.

On a side note the latin phrase that we have is attributed to Francis Bacon.

And seeing as we have As and Bs in the pics this would point to bacons cipher. (Darkstar in IRC)
