So it's been observed by several scientists, and I'd assume that they would look at the bottom when observing it.
Then why didn't it teleport any of them to Earth like it did with Vi? Correct me if I'm wrong, but according to LoB, all Vi did was pick the thing up and it took her to Earth just like that.

Well pointed out Sylocat I was just thinking the same thing maybe it had something to do with her
feelings
...No maybe her
emotions
..The
conditions
...Her
ancestry
....
Okay theres a perpfectly resonable explanation but it just doesn't happen to exist....YET
P.S I do remember it saying in the Perplex City magazine that it incinerated someone...Kinda reminds me of that episode of Doctor Who "The Last Dalek". They were studying the Dalek for years and someone touched it and the went up in flames

Perhaps the cube was able to tell it was in danger (or perhaps Violet told it that it was in danger) during the theft, but it knew it was safe (or perhaps the scientists told it that it was safe) when they were examining it.
Just a thought.

I think there's a much simpler explanation.
Like the fact that scientists would typically examine mysterious objects "remotely". The object stays enclosed and protective measures are taken to ensure the safety of those studying it. With no one in Perplex City having any idea what the Cube would do, maybe they never touched it. They may have carried it with a harness or something. Or even simpler, maybe the Cube needs to touch skin and scientists usually wear gloves (or protective suits).

Too True True True but they probably have to wear special lead gloves or something like that. Not being sure of what it could do.

I didn't see it mentioned here, but the Academy logo on the cube looks to be only a partial logo. This is further fodder (in my mind) toward the theory that the cube split, phased, shifted, or otherwise became multiple objects after the dimensional travel. I would assume the other two "pieces" of the cube would have different partial pieces of the Academy logo, such that if all of the cube faces were to be superimposed atop each other, you would get the complete logo.</speculation>
The logo looks to me to definitely be a representation of 3 cubes, especially when viewed from the angle of the photograph on this page .

Actually, I noticed that the cube is supposed to react with acetone, water, or liquid mercury. Does anyone know if the cube's finder exposed the cube to any of these chemicals to see if it had some sort of hidden message on it?
