Iris's answers to the 3 and the 7

Dear Barbara,

I know I've taken my time answering your questions but that is because
I have been playing the incident at the Ashram over and over in mind trying to see if all the elements ever formed themselves into the layout of the graffiti. I was quite hysterical so my memory of the exact positions of everyone is not necessarily reliable. Be that as it may, let me start by saying I don't think the "Seven" were ever arranged in a semi-circle. As they appeared at the edge of the trees, there were three forward and four somewhat behind them. When they first appeared, Wes and Iris were perhaps 10 or 12 feet away from me and I was sitting down. I jumped up and ran over to get behind Wes for protection. At that point, Iris was over to my right and moved toward the beings. Wes came up on her left side to try to pull her back and I got over on her right side, or rather behind her right side, and was plucking her sleeve, trying to bring her out of her trance. I looked back and the three DEG's were about 15 feet behind us. I then did my crazy dance and was moving in orbit around Wes. As Wes
approached the one who spoke, I had a hold on Iris and was pulling her
away from the seven and somewhat on a diagonal, trying to get to the side of the confronting forces, if you see what I mean. So I cannot say that any of those present formed, at any time, a tableau that replicates the shape of the graffiti. I suppose there would be a sort of metaphysical beauty to it
if we had and I'm sorry to disappoint you.

Additionally, I do not believe I would say that the DEG's are "exactly the
same," as in, being identical. From some of the conversations I heard
about town when they first made themselves known, it would seem that
different people see them differently. Some see them as looking more or less normal while others, like myself, see them as looking peculiarly abnormal. The things they all have in common are wearing dark suits and dark sunglasses and having dark hair and pale complexions. But I have seen some with those wrap-around style glasses and others with more square-shaped styles. So they are not uniform clones if that is what you are thinking. One could I suppose, if one were to observe one or two of them together long enough, see differences in their features. Of course, it could all be a matter of subjective perception and, perhaps, to others they do all look alike.

Someone did tell me about Mr. Abbott's recent experiences; I believe it
was Iris. Without seeing this Absinthe person, there is no way I could say
whether he looked like the man I saw in the painting or whether he bears a resemblance to the statue.

If Douglas has set up a meeting with Dale here in town then why didn't he
appear to sleep in his own bed last night? If he is "switching sides," I dare
say I'll be the last to know; I am, very obviously, at the bottom of his
priority list.

Your message from the Guides does indeed have similarities to the lines
Sarah wrote on the wall. Do you suppose they are from some kind of ancient text they've all memorized? Or, perhaps, they are all simply drawing inspiration from the same well?

Knowing Douglas may be lurking about has given me reservations about
checking under the floorboards. I would so hate to be placed at a disadvantage by being caught in the act. My attorney has advised me to change the locks on the doors but I'm uncertain about doing that. I am feeling rather sad instead of mad enough to throw his clothing on the curb. I really do want to hear what he has to say and locking him out won't accomplish that.

You are always polite, Barbara, which is more than I can say of some of
my other correspondents.

Fondly,
Phyllis
