n00b questions I just started and there are some things I don't get the hang of, even reading deuscity.com, the wiki and the forum.
1) What's the IG point of the puzzles on the main website?
2) When I try to solve a puzzle it says I don't have enough credits. Do I buy those?
3) Is Deus City New York? It looks like the map.
4) Why are there districts not on the maps (e.g. blue)?
5) Everyone else has a shiny ID card. How do I get one?
6) Are you supposed to take sides with the characters?
7) Are factions and karma colours correlated?
What's the underground?

1) the point of these puzzles i guess are like our missions, we must do them for rank and prestiege
2) THere is no real world currecy used, fundi arent assh^les, well not completly lol.. You get credits everyday, like interest in your bank
3) we arent complely sure, but that is my idea as well
4) I can only hope the game will last for a good many moths, what would be the point of laying all your cards on the table in the beggining
5) in your email DUH
6) it is encouraged, but you must make your own choices, do what you would do in real life if this was happening to you, follow your heart (AWWW THATS SWEET)
7)yes, we beleive
that is for us all to find out

8 ) without the space is the normal way to create a sunglasses smiley.
If you don't want it converted into a smiley, check the "Disable BBCode in this post" option below the text entry box when you're posting.
(Or you can use the ordered list BBCode instead of typing out the numbers -- see the "List=" button.)

Since Trace comes into uF chat.... he's a player. Relatively new, very eager and involved. But you can ask him yourself.
Characters are not allowed to post or interact in uF. PMs may read the threads, but per the TOS of uF, their characters are not suppose to know that uF exists so anything discussed or posted in here is considered OOG (out of game).

Answer for Noob = Yes!
Explanation of "Answer for Noob" = Trace that you see here is a player that like the rest of us, trying to solve the puzzles, or free loading of the rest of us (and doing a damn fine job of it, according to the prestige!!!). ****** That's a joke Trace!! ******
However, the "Trace" that you see in Deus City is a character, which may or may not be the same "Trace" that posts here.
Admittedly, this can start to get confusing, especially when you get into it deeper.
For instance, here I am SteveMids and I admit I am "playing" an ARG. That said, on Deus City I am SteveMids and what game are you talking about???? I work for *******, my allegiances are *******, etc, etc.
Hope this makes it a bit clearer???

I believe the word you're looking for is "role-playing."
Trace is a player here on UF, but in-game, although he uses the same name, he may role-play an individual different from his real self.
That said, as Konamouse noted, "characters" as the term is generally used in ARGs -- that is, agents in the story that are written and acted by the game's makers -- are not allowed to post here.
Players may choose how much of their in-game role they bring to UF, although in general, players do not role-play much here because it makes OOG discussion (the purpose of this forum) difficult.

This is technically incorrect. Players may not post on the forums as if they are characters or in-game either.

Wait, we're supposed to stop them if they're role-playing here?
Sheer impracticality, I'd think, would prevent it in most cases, but in a case where there are in-game factions that are, say, pretending not to like each other, are we supposed to stop them from role-playing that conflict here as well?
(Assuming that the conflict actually came here...)

We won't have to stop them, because they won't do it in the first place (mostly). Yes, uF is out of game. In-game conflicts do not exist here. When anyone, player or pm, posts here as if they are in-game, it always causes problems.

Dude! Trace! I could totally read that in one go without misunderstanding anything!
Admitted I had to read your post again to convince myself that I read it right the first time, and i did, and there was much rejoicing =)
You get the official WG thumbs up for bringing improved readability and spellchecking to your posts, I likey.
(Now if only I had the good sense to Sheriff my own posts for the same errors before hitting send...)
