theninhotline has a link to this page...

http://blog.wired.com/wiredscience/2007/02/ask_a_scientist.html

...where you can suggest questions to be put to jane mcgonical, the lead designer at 42 entertainment.

they also report the finding of the flash-drive with 'my violent heart' at the lisbon gig, and mentions that there stegged images in the audio that relate to iamtryingtobelieve.com (namely - the big hand from above thingme)

it's all very interesting, but is it an ARG or just backstory to the album ?

time will tell, i guess...

Also today: there is, apparently, a phone number spelled out on a tour shirt through highlighted digits: 13102951040. It has a phone recording complete with a song clip, and anotherversionofthetruth-esque static and morse at the end. Downloadable here (edit: linked to a better recording... I think...). All courtesy of echoing the sound.

As this is obviously the same person posting rubbish over and over again, under different names...isn't there some way you could block the IP or something? -_-

The morse on the file yanka posted starts off the same "24.".
But after that I couldn't keep up. Anyone else?

New Site

http://www.opalescenthaze.com/

Found by the ETS forums.
Looks like it was mentioned on the consolidatedmailsystems page.

on the page it says.

Quote:
Canyou see it?

They're watching. Stand by for further instructions.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Hidden in the source in between the last line is this.

"Shatter 36 are you reading this?"
"we need a new server"
"RedRover"

I'm wondering if this isn't a message to us after having using reverse lookup to find all the other sites.

Edit: Site determined to be a attempted gamejack.

Most likely. It's pretty amazing that the collective minds of a group of players can pigeon hole just about anything.

I'm not sure about that one... I think it might be a gamejack, for these reasons:

1) It wasn't there yesterday (I know, because I went there). The place that hints at there being opalescenthaze.com is http://www.consolidatedmailsystems.com/nooneimportant/, yet OH's whois record says it was created today. But the mail place was already up yesterday, and possibly Monday. Now, if the mail place (which we know is legit) gave a clue to a new site, it seems that that new site would be up and ready and there for the eager ARGer to try the kloo-ed url, doesn't it?
2) It isn't registered by Domains by Proxy like the other sites, and its IP address is 66.244.251.18. Other in-game sites's IP addresses are either in the 69.20.104.2x or the 207.97.210.18-9x blocks.

So, meh. It wouldn't be too hard for someone to copy their css files and put up an html page (btw, the other sites all use htm as their format).

Heh, yeah i was trying to go to opalescenthaze last night too. Wonder when deadcop-opal will be up...or if theyl even change it now that they know the ip was caught onto:P

And as a sidenote, if this isnt quite an ARG yet, what exactly would make this an ARG and separate it from being a complicated promotion(which it basically is either way Razz )?

I think that would mostly lie in interaction.
If they included any between you and a character I would say it is an ARG in the true sense.
But that's really just how I think of ARGs.

I don't know if this is going to be a puzzle solving to advance kind of ARG. I think it's going to be a lot of background on the story behind the new album, but if it's true that, that USB drive was found in a bathroom, this is going to be quite a ride.

Wiki for the ARG

http://www.ninwiki.com/Main_Page

A wiki has been set up (but is currently getting hammered pretty hard, along with the ETS forums.)

Dang man, I've never even heard of ARG's before today when I found the first website talked about on a music website, then googled Perapin and wound up in these forums. I'm excited to try this out.

Does anybody have a concise update as to what's going on so I don't have to comb through the 107 pages of postings at the ETS site?

Also, that ninwiki.com/Main_Page thing didn't work for me...what am I doing wrong?

First off, welcome! Yeah the ninwiki wasn't working for me either. And the best overview is the first post of the thread at the ETS forums.

EDIT: added linkage. yanka.
