[MAIL][SOLVED] We love beef/timehole - Daisy the cow plushie
with a message hidden where the sun don't shine

I got a package delivered this morning addressed to "Mr. Thunderwolf". Inside was a plushie of a fresian cow (It's very nice). On closer inspection I discovered a rolled up piece of paper instered in a place familiar to vets.

Didn't have time to scan it when I left this morning for work, and I'm going to be working until christ knows what time tonight, but here's a description:

It's standard A4 side paper which reads:

Quote:

Somerset
County Council

County Library, Old Market Place, BA4 2NB

Mr. Patrick R Withers

Deletion of library card warning, over-due borrowing.

Titles
JKR Rowling -- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
JKR Rowling - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Dear Mr. Withers,

Please consider this as your final warning to return the over-due books listed. After this your library card will be destroyed

The printed text on "will" above originally read "with", but "l" has been drawn over each of "t" and "h" in black biro.

Quote:

Whilst the successful author Ms Rowling is not effected by your actions, we are only a county library and out members rely on the small quantity but high quality literature we provide. This is particularly true of the school children from whose section you, a grown man have borrowed.
May I also remind you of our past leniency concerning the Erich Von Daniken title Chariots of the Gods which you returned covered in green gloop.

Yours sincerely,

[illegible signature]

Head Librarian.

The entirety of the message has been crossed out with a black biro.

on the back of the message, written in Black felt-tip is the following:

Quote:

Wak8

Anyone else get anything this morning?

Could the 'w' stand for watershed and the rest be a clue as to the further location? Does the place have numbered kiosks or something? I've no idea just throwing it out there. Forgive me if those of you familiar with the facility know I'm off base

Drop?

Is there such a library? If so, maybe someone should go there and ask about the letter. Maybe check those books to see if there is something in them. According to a quick google search the Chariot of God book is about UFOs.

List of Somerset libraries is here, but I don't see that particular address :
http://www.somerset.gov.uk/somerset/culturecommunity/culturalservice/libraries/yourlibrary/directory/

And yes, anything by von Daeniken is UFO-related Wink

Friesian cows originally hail from Friesland, The Netherlands, a province well-known for it's outdoor iceskating tradition. "Wak" is Dutch for "hole in the ice". Probably nothing, but I found it funny enough to throw it out there Smile

I'm wondering if "Wak8" relates in some way to the "Apply the parable" message

I will envy you to death, Mr. Thunderwolf Smile

That said, I tried doing a ROT-8 on it - nothing.
Tried it ( and the ROT ) as a new page at WLB - nothing.
Tried to talk to Yuki about it - as informative as ever.

Throwing the ball back to you people. What do you think? Can it be used as some kind of grid reference to apply a geometrical parable in the Daisy text, perhaps?

Well, this is certainly getting odd. First Yuki plushies and now a cow toy with a probe.

Well I'll do my stating the obvious thang - just so it's all here in one thread. Taken from the Time Hole forums :

Quote:
David - You've never read that book you've just pinched that idea from somewhere. That reminds me we've had another letter from the library about you're overdue Harry Potter books.

Note the past tense... "had another letter" which suggests this may have come from Pat or Dave.

Maybe backs up what mgelles was saying?
