Marzano visits the Hollow Needle- Iris and Phyllis report

Quote:
Dear Barbara,

You will not believe who just sauntered into the Hollow Needle!

Iris and I were sitting around the back of the shop this afternoon,
chit-
chatting idly, sharing our dreams from last night and discussing the
apparent
connection between Douglas and the poltergeist activity in the house.
Since he
has been gone the disruptive incidents have almost completely stopped.

I heard the bell on the shop's door go off and went forward to greet my
potential customer and there he was! Very distinguished-looking,
gray-haired
and exceptionally well-dressed, I recognized him instantly from the
footage on
the news – Don Marzano himself! My mask of self-control snapped into
place and
I greeted him smoothly, like I would any other, "May I help you, sir?"
I noted
the shadow of a large man – presumably his body guard – standing
outside the
door.

He looked me in the eyes and spoke in a smooth, deep voice that I
recognized
from the phone call I once answered for Douglas. "You have a lovely
shop here,"
he purred, "So many exquisite treasures. I have heard of your unusual
collection and decided I had to see it for myself. Do you mind if I
look
around?" I replied with equal smoothness, "Of course not. Please take
your time
and let me know if I can answer any questions you may have about the
items on
display."

Just then, Iris came from the back, took one look at "The Don" and her
eyes got
that look they do when she is having a vision. He looked her up and
down,
giving her a thorough appraisal. His eyebrow shot up in apparent
surprise; I
don't know if it was her sudden presence or something else. But I felt
the need
to move to her side and try to cover the awkwardness by saying, "Iris,
dear,
sorry to abandon you in the back. I was busy with this gentleman here.
Mr. ...?
I was prompting him to introduce himself but instead he gave me a
slightly
smirking smile and said, "Oh, I've just remembered an appointment. I'm
late and
must hasten to keep it." He said this is a most leisurely fashion, not
at all
as someone would if they truly recalled a prior engagement. At the
door, he
turned back to me oh-so-casually and said, "I shall return, I promise
you, when
I have more time to browse through your wonderful artifacts." And was
out the
door before I was required to say something I didn't care to say like,
"Please
do."

As soon as we saw him safely tucked into his limousine, Iris and I both
looked
at each other and exclaimed in unison, "Do you know who that was?!" We
both had
involuntary shudders and took deep breaths to calm ourselves. I'll let
Iris
tell you what her vision revealed and only say, it was quite
disturbing. Iris
has only now left to return to the B&B and I just had to let you all
know about
this rather strange occurrence. Smooth as a snake, he was. Shudder.

Did you hear about the dreams I had last night? I sent them to Pam. I
sometimes
wonder if my communications go through when I don't receive replies...
I'll
answer your email separately. This little visit has left me so
unsettled I
wanted you all to know about it as soon as possible.

Fondly,
Phyllis

and from Iris...

Dear Barbara,

No, you did not disturb my peace; I do not seem to have any at the
moment for
you to disturb. Even when I am relaxing I wind up pacing and my mind
races as
I try to think of what I should be doing next. It is as if there is
something
quite obvious I am missing and I just cannot place my finger on it.

Oh! Before I address the questions in your email to me, I just have to
tell
you what happened when I was over talking to Phyllis. She and I had
been
talking, trying to pass the time (and I was fighting loneliness and
boredom).
Phyllis is really an interesting lady. I have asked her to help me
with my
poise and so forth. You should have seen her face light up. I think
she was
looking for some sort of project and maybe I can be it! I hope that
if I
meet someone, they will think I am as classy as Phyllis. Anyway, we
could
hear someone enter her store, so she quickly left to attend to their
needs as
I finished my tea and muffin. I figured she would only be a moment, as
usually people walk in, take a peek and then walk out when nothing
flies off
the wall and no cold spots can be found.

I could hear voices in the other room and had the oddest sensation of
knowing
the other person's voice. It was a very smooth, deep voice, the sort
that
just oozes self confidence. I knew that I had heard it before and
could not
place it, so I stepped into the store on the pretense of telling
Phyllis I was
leaving.

That is when it happened. I saw him. The man from TV was in Phyllis's
house.
Mr. Marzano, the mobster was standing there, positively glowing with
some
emotion I could not place. As I looked at him, our eyes met and it was
as if
I were falling into the blackness of his pupils. I saw him as a
younger man,
his hair black and thick and his face youthful and stunningly handsome.
He was
the sort of man who could gain loyalty without lifting a finger, his
beauty
was that striking. He was standing amidst what I can only describe as a
battlefield. There were bloody bodies everywhere, the greatest
concentration
right around his feet. There was smoke in the air and the man held a
large
shining sword. The sword was held loosely with the point resting on
the
ground at his feet, steadying him. There was a strange and disturbing
light in
his eyes and it only intensified as he surveyed the scene before him.

I was shivering when I suddenly heard Phyllis speak my name and then
address
the customer, Mr. Marzano. Before I could stand to look at him again,
the
gentleman had swept from the shop and we could see him getting into his
car
and being driven off.

Phyllis and I agree that there is something going on with him. One
would
think that someone who is under a grand jury indictment would have
better
things to do than go shopping for antiques!

I have not heard back from Mr. Sprague, so I do not know if I will ever
get
the chance to sit down with him. Mr. Abbott, on the other hand, has
offered
to speak to me in person very soon, and I am just waiting for him to
determine
the particulars like when and where. I have even told him I would go
into the
Big Apple to see him. Let us hope he agrees to meet me soon.

I am afraid to say that the boys have gone away for the weekend. They
have
relatives a few hours west of here and left early this morning to go
visit
them. I think some time away will do wonders for them. They are not
used to
all of this and the stress got them really on edge. I swear they get
goofier
when they are overly stressed and I just know I would have killed one
of them
very soon, had they not left.

Yes, I have seen that photograph before. It is very typical of the
types of
photos that are taken of Spirit. Who or what is in the photo, I am not
at all
prepared to even give you a guess. Someone suggested that I take a
boat ride
out to the island and I have left it to the boys to find out from the
locals
how and if that can be done safely. The lights and the emotions I
sensed
coming from the water has convinced me to tread as carefully as I can
when
dealing with that area.

You know, I still have not gotten the library information from Sam? I
completely forgot about the photos. I shall shoot off an email to him
and see
if I can get him moving on those photos or video again.

Thank you for your concern,

Iris
