Well, he comes from a musically-inclined family, I've heard.

Hi, I've been reading the forums and all of the HC forums. My account's in waiting still. The one thing that freaks me out about this is if it is someone who actualls believes in this, then like when he asked someone from HC to go to that phonebooth, or someone else to go to a town and look for that one book, I'd be scared some crazy would get me. As for it being an ARG, it seems like there was a whooole lot of time and effort, almost too much for someone just trying to make a game, but then again im new to ARgs, it could be normal. Just thought id my little bit.

I'd be interested to know the questions like asked everyone. Didn't he get like 25/30 correct or something? That was what drew me into this.

edit: Anyone notice Pembry's last login date? How's that work when he was posting just last week?

I believe going places to pick up stuff/answering a phone is something that's been used in a ARG before, and not just one. Of course, this is only my second ARG and the one that I played before was pretty much all online without too much character interaction.

On another note, has all the participants replied? Or are there still others missing?

2 are still missing. One of which I think could be IG.

From Wikipedia:
"The Forer effect (also called personal validation fallacy or the Barnum effect after P. T. Barnum) is the observation that individuals will give high accuracy ratings to descriptions of their personality that supposedly are tailored specifically for them, but are in fact vague and general enough to apply to a wide range of people."

Yeah, there are a lot of things about this that are creepier than that though.

That's 83% accuracy... not too bad, but not impossible. Barely enough to pass a driving exam. Wink

Not to mention that this isn't a closed system lab work or anything. It's like looking at a personality test using the zodiac. Plus, with the internet nowadays, you can practically find out personal info for anyone if you tried hard enough. Thus probably explaining some of the questions are vague and some are relatively specific (gathered from people's responces) as the ease in finding more confidential information about that specific member.

That's possible. My alternate hypothesis is that he just drew random vague statements out of a hat or something, because none of the info that's easily available on me was referenced in any way.

Mine was very correct, but I think that was luck more than anything else, since it's not normally something obvious:

You're so scared. You just want to understand everything. You want to know all you can. Unfortunately, there are so many twists and paths are lives can take. You're afraid of getting lost, are you not? You're afraid of being lost to time.

Reading the newest post by Hackjob Johnny, the only thing now that seems made up on the fly is the stuff concerning Wilson's twins.

It's probably the most important post so far.

This is compelling

I have no idea if this is an arg or interactive story, but what I do know is that this is just some plain old compelling activity.

To me the fact that it is compelling really makes attempts at defining it unnecessary.
