ALSO: i have a possiblility of who Chad is. probably OOG and a coincidence, but Chad is one of the three founders of YouTube.

See this post: http://thehappycube.proboards34.com/index.cgi?board=hackjobjohnny&action=display&thread=1172900990

The forums are still locked down, it would seem.

Lolzers. Thanks, but no. Trying to start it back up is kinda lame, whether it's a prank or for realz.

On the other hand, you guys did really well considering it was your first, and just a prank, at that. If you want to do another one for real some time, I'll go for it.

Sorry if this is off topic, or in the wrong place, but i was wondering what you guys use to translate greek to english, and also what you use to decode stuff? thanks

hoo boy...

at first, i thought the numbers might point to the significant charactor in the line of symbols, but some have less symbols than the number in front. i'm guessing this is some kinda code that we have to decode after translating...?

I did the Greek stuff either with babelfish or by hand (since babelfish only accepts proper Greek characters). For simple machine code translations I use the Binary Translator. For ROTs I usually just whip something up in Excel. For Vigenere cracking I use the Black Chamber tool. For anything else, I just surf Google, do it by hand, or (very rarely) make my own program.

I thought that, too, but yeah, no dice. Then I thought maybe the symbols were there as a distraction, and the numbers were representations of letters of the alphabet, but the only words I got were "wehdiyuetssl" counting forwards and "dvswhbfvghho" counting backwards.

Edit: Only thing I can figure is it's a cryptogram of some kind. I suck at cryptograms.

Or...it could be nothing and it's supposed to drive you crazy.
Seriously, why are people still even wasting time with this?

That was my thought. Furthermore, given what's gone before, even if it is a code and it translates to something other than "'twas all for boners", what could it possibly say that'd make anyone want to get back into chasing this thing?

They're just messing with people now, at least to judge from the thread in SA.

I suggest ignoring them; there's very little chance that you'll get much payoff from this, unless you like going "LOL look they totally jerked those poor players around LOL"
