[HS] Boat Tournament: Competitors, strategies, et al. I reckon we should take a note of some of the players, and their amount of chips. It also means we'll know when it's us!
So far I've gained 12000+ chips but I'm going to stop updating now as I'm just winning too much
Players:
Chase "Nathan" Scranton
Ross "Parrot" Boyle - 7000+
Peter "Peter" Peterson
Martin "Van" Buren
Jerry "Tiger" Balm
Terri "Cloth" Sugalski
Dennis "The Flask" Yoder
Nick "Chip" Oreto
James "Hook'em" Miller
Susan Check
Kelvin Corn
Frankie "The Artist" DeNozzo
Steve "Lefty" Scotty
Wynne Braden
Ralph "Snifter" Kingsley
Jodene "Thimblerig" Shell
I reckon as the amounts will change during play we keep to thousands?
Edit: tidied up a bit. I'd also suggest to keep this "trackable" we edit our posts whenever possible
EDIT 2: Okies new suggestion, we pull together the list of names in here, but just track the big players. So far the only one who has gained a big pile of chips is Parrot.

I've got 'round 3000+ chips.
Brian "BB Gun" Blaine has 600+
Xavier "G-Man" Parson has 400+
Brock Wilson has 400+
Chris Fuller has 1200+
Edit:Ack, you took the full names of my guys off your list, lemme see if I can add it...
I've played the four guys you're playing now earlier today. So I don't think it'd work to edit our own posts, because we'll all be playing mixes of these guys. Thus far, I've only seen those eight names in the games I've been playing, in addition to the various "Parare Joes".

I've played a few times and haven't played against anybody except the "Parare Joes". However, when I first sat down to play, I got a cinch hand and knew I couldn't lose. As a joke, I bet somewhere in the millions (I lost track of zeros at that point) thinking there's no way it will let me bet that much especially since I only have 500 chips. Well it did, and I won. You can apparantly push the buy back in button as many times as you want and continue betting on the same round over and over again. I don't know if I should contact the webmaster or keep making money.
Just for the curious, my chip count now stands at over 160 million...now where do I cash out?

Yup just discovered that too, although only to the tune of a modest 70000 chips.
I emailed the webmaster address as I think it takes the fun out of faking out your opponents. Also if you bet more than you have you don't seem to lose any chips if you lose. Will make the tournie proper a little strange...

This game is pretty addicting though.

Just got a reply from the webmaster, who is indeed Ned.
Quote:
Greetings,
Yes, that is just for practice, though we recommend that players refrain from doing so, as they are only cheating themselves.
When tournament time comes, players' chip counts will be reset, so there really isn't any advantage to playing that way.
- Ned

Tournament let me in! Hi all,
Has the tournament strarted properly yet?
I have only just joined and feel left behind already (I hate that feeling!)
I have asked to join the Boat Tournament - how long does it take to get in?
So far I have only been able to access the 3OB&B site; is there anything on the SC site? When I click High Stakes, I go nowhere.
What's going on? I want to know!

No updates, but I'm assuming we'll be on at the usual time (hopefully not for the usual dissappointment!).

Well, as usual the Boat tournament isn't working quite as well as I'd hoped. Seems to be the same old slowness.

No tables showing for me.
EDIT: The big C says things should be fixed in 15.

It wasn't working correctly - no betting between rounds, too many cards, etc. Ned is rebooting it and it should be back up at the top of the hour for another run-through.

So, in a nutshell for all of you who weren't able to attend, the game started 45 mintues late on account of Mr. Baron having extra chips. A few hands were played and then at the last hand Mr. Baron won a huge pot with a flush (that looked like it was going to be a royal flush). Then the game went all wacky and Mr. Baron changed his name to Lucky Jack.
Shortly after the game I had this game with Conelrad.
Quote:
Abyss: You there?
conelrad: Here, but, uh, preoccupied
Abyss: with what? The tournament website? Did something go wrong with the game?
Abyss: ??
conelrad: Something happened to Mr Baron that's destroyed almost all of the equipment here
Abyss: Something like to him physically? Or his game hand? Or mentally?
Abyss: =/
conelrad: And Sheila arrested Mr Clarkson!
conelrad: Both I think?
Abyss: Oh my.......
Abyss: So you're saying Mr. Baron physically destroyed all the equipment?
Abyss: just to get that straight
conelrad: Yeah, let's go with that
Abyss: is there anything else strange going on or is the whole town just going crazy?
Abyss: lol
conelrad: Well, everything around where I am!
Abyss: Where's Scott?
conelrad: I don't think I can really wrap my head around it right now. I'll try to throw together a podcast.
Abyss: kk
conelrad: I have no idea!
Abyss: well, hopefully things get under control
Abyss: good luck!
conelrad: Thanks
And also I guess that before the game Mr. Baron had put some restrictions on the town and stuff..... i'm not quite sure there. But yeah, so things don't look so good for Parare right now....

That bit about the restrictions - that wasn't before the game. I was talking to Conelrad about Mr Clarkson (i.e. was he really a good mayor). Conelrad replied that Mr Clarkson made sweeping changes upon becoming mayor - including stopping the curfew, prohibitions, etc.
Still waiting for a podcast from Conelrad.
