 [S7] [TRAILHEAD] www.sectorseven.org = transformers movie?

I just watched the new trailer for the Transformers movie [please be good] and during the beginning, there's a scene where a sound file is being played. In the upper right hand corner of the graphics, there's the words "sector seven org" and lo and behold, the domain is up with some kind of password. Thoughts?

possible rabbithole:
http://www.sectorseven.org
trailer links:
http://uk.promotions.yahoo.com/transformers/

OMGWTFBBQ i want a transformers ARG for christmas Pony?! Pony?!

I'm having a look now, the whois seems to show that it is connected to the movie Very Happy

ETA: background on the password:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
doing some research, takara is the company that made transformers, and they were created in 1983, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transformers_(toyline)

The password leads to here, for easy access
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://www.sectorseven.org/remoteclient.html

I'll spoiler for now, since we haven't found the password properly Sad

The next bit looks like flash too, if possible it would be nice to go through it as intended, rather than decompiling (imo)(until we get stuck or something)

powers, alex

after clicking around on the bug buttons at the bottom of the page, i unlocked a high production quality video of a solder names Alex Powers explaining how war is coming and radar blips have been identified and all kinds of exciting things.

this is going to be good.

It is an ARG?

Chances are it's not an ARG but just an Experience.

More and more marketers are taping into the "word of mouth" advertising that the internet, MySpace, You Tube, blogs, etc can provide.

To be an ARG there would have to be some sort of interaction, some sort of means for players to affect the characters and the story. Some way for the players to become immersed into the Alternate Reality.

Don't let that stop your exploration and enjoyment of the Transformers world.

Did anyone make sense of the PDF? I'm having a hard time understanding it in any kind of in-game sense. It looks like a regular interoffice memo describing an agreement between Takara Inc. and S7 Industries (apparently a game developer) to license the Transformers characters for a game based on the upcoming movie. In other words, it seems to be very specifically out-of-game in relation to the rest of the site. Other than some references to rights extending to the entire "universe", I couldn't find anything that unusual.

Is it possible that this is really what it says it is, and perhaps this site is all part of S7's pitch to Takara? Not that that would diminish its quality as an experience or whatever.

There's still plenty of time for this to happen yet Smile

EDIT: I don't know what to make of the PDF, or of the logo which I downloaded too, It's not stegged, and I couldn't find anything using PS either... Gah, What happened to "more than meets the eye" ??

PDF spec

based on the dates used (it being many years in planning), I think the pdf is part of a "make a movie and game about something real so when it happens the public is desensitized or at leasts has less reason to believe the crackpot fanboys that saw a tank transform" kind of propaganda

but thats just an off the cuff spec

This makes the most sense to me so far. Plus, there are references to transformers shows (and the animated movie) which didn't exist until long after the 1983 date of the document.

Based on the 'access denied' portions of the site, I'd say there's more to come. Too early to call it a full ARG or not, but it's got potential!

Password is in the movie trailer, same shot as the URL.

Also, uh, MEGA-SPOILER based on movie leaks, but may help you people to understand the PDF, but basically Randomeis is right.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
According to script leaks, Sector 7's a US government agency that knows about the transformers' existence. Basically a US ship found something big at the north pole around the beginning of the 20th century and it started it all, sooner or later the site's bound to allude to that, I guess

I really like the UI design of the desktop simulator. And the code that's streaming in the console window on the left side looks like it could be a legitimate unix/linux log file. (although it's not. OR IS IT?!? )

I like these kinds of small details. Smile

awesome. yeah, I guess it might not be an arg, but it's really cool either way. I'm not a regular here or anything, but I took part in the ilovebees thing and loved it, and found this forum through that. you guys are great at this stuff, I can't wait to see what happens & what you can crack.
