Collecting information about Card 257.

I've put together a website to help collect information about the owners of Card 257 (and any peculiarities about each card, particularly which ones are signed).

There is an effort on the Wiki to collate similar information, but the forum provides a means to discuss the cards (and any theories) in more detail. If you have (or know anyone who has) one of the 333 #257 cards, I'd like to encourage you to log on and post the details of it.

Sorry the forum is so big, but I'm no PHP expert, and that's the only way I could think to show all the cards in one location.

The URL is http://www.card257.com

Feedback welcome!

Wow,

Whilst I appreciate the effort that has gone into setting up the site, I'm a little confused as to what data needs to be collected as it appears there is nothing to solve.

I don't personally think a forum is the best method for this, why not just have a list of cards and their owner's or details about them on the main page.

Once again, it's nice that you're putting effort in to tracking these cards but then again, it's like tracking blue peter badges or something. What's a list of blue peter badge winners going to get you?

/me slaps himself for being negative.

Welcome to unfiction! Pull up a chair, enjoy your stay Smile (sorry about the negitivity)

Why? I think you answered your own question. It _appears_ there's nothing to solve, but who knows for sure.

There's 333 cards (a magic number, right). The ones that are signed seem to be completely random.. or are they Wink

Don't worry about wasted effort. I knocked it up while bored on Sunday afternoon for a bit of fun to pass the time Smile

in my evergoing quest to find every copy of this card (and buy it once) i've come across a totaly unsigned version on ebay. thought that was kinda funny. don't know if it's still up, but you can still search for expired auctions if it's gone.

Also, there is www.perplexcitywiki.com/wiki/List_of_gold_card_holders which I have been using.

Well I got my card today from craniumoxide and had a good look at it using a loupe. What I have noticed is what looks like a halftone magenta overlay on the gold. It's really hard to pick up (so much so that I may actually just be seeing things!) If it is really there then it's not uniform, some bits are darker than others.

Can someone else check their gold card? Reflect some bright light off the gold and look at it at different angles, does there appear to be a 5mm strip running around the gold border of a slightly different colour?

One other thing to note that I've not read anywhere is that the darker starburst on the back of the card is actually a glossy plastic overlay (i.e. a fingerprint magnet! Razz)

Only other thing I can think to try is RFID... I don't particularly want to freeze it/put it in the oven/microwave it/cut it up/otherwise deface it/etc. etc. Not this card! :p
