ARG in Europe Too many ARGs in the USA and nothing here in Europe Hi Europeans!
Does anyone knows if there's a free ARG taking place in Europe or in France? I think this kind of game is really interesting but it's not developped in Europe. So if someone has a tip just contact me. thx

See argn.com for a brief article on a new UK-based game. That's in Europe. Or France.

I don't think the Brit-landers will appreciate you saying they're in France

One of unFiction's members, Patrol, makes and maintains a pretty cool German ARG site, targeted mostly for Germany, and a little for the rest of Europe. Even France
It's here: http://www.patmo.de/
Having said that, I think a lot of ARGs are pretty international, in the sense that you can pretty much follow along with them and interact with the online bits not matter where you are. Unfortunately, there haven't been many live events here yet, not counting a couple of excellent German ARGs that Patrol writes about on his site, nor some Perplex City live events in the UK.

I can see the problem you're talking about.
Here in Sweden the ARG-scene has been pretty dead, apart from a few games - mostly run by yours truly. However, we have a pretty active pervasive gaming research - and thus, the need has (up until now) been satisfied that way. Check out www.prosopopeia.se in a couple of days time for some interesting read =)
I would love to see a European-focused and developed game - no offense to the guys and gals on the other side of the pond - but it gets kind of boring after a while.
It would be extremely cool to make the players travel around Europe as well, doesn't cost more then 10-15$ a trip - at least not here in Sweden.
Thoughts on this?
Peace.

Hi fellow Europeans. From Portugal here. How about... we combine our european efforts together, and make a massive european ARG that has elements in several countries? I don't have a lot of pratical experience, I've been more into reading a lot about ARG than participating (this is my 1st post also and I'm not even registered), but with all of the knowledge of Europeans in this board, we could probably do a nice thing worth playing. What do you european people think?

Does it matter where the ARG is physically based from? I mean, most of the 'work' goes on over the internet, so wherever you are, you can take part.
Having said that, we did have a great time at the live geist event in Bristol the other week

This gets back to the debate over what an ARG is. If it is completely on the internet, some people argue that it is just immersive fiction. The essence of an ARG is that it spills out into our reality. It might be a package arriving via snail mail, or it might be a real person at a live event, or a phone call to your private line.
If a game is 99% on the internet, it gets a wider audience, but that last 1% rooted in the real world is what makes it an ARG. If it is 100% on the internet, we tend to dismiss it as a "Timewaster".
(i'm speaking in generalities, of course, and opinions vary widely over these issues)

I agree and there is still nothing to stop phone calls being made internationally as call charges have dropped hugely & although snail mail round the world would delay things, it could still happen?!
Well, in theory the post across Europe isn't that slow & it takes about 7 days for a letter for the UK to Oz which wouldn't hold things up too much I don't think.

A EuroARG would be great, with an aim to have live events in at least five different countries. Why stop there though? What about Asia?
