I've been watching the video for a couple of weeks now, and one thing still bothers me...

Will there be a logical reason given for why Violet needs us to help solve this mystery? Or why Violet even needs to solve it at all? Is she a suspect or something? Surely people need a motivation for before getting involved.

For instance, there was a murder in my neighborhood (a nice neighborhood, actually. very unnerving) just the other day --

*everyone whispers: she's American, you know... they shoot each other all the time over there*

-- and I feel no responsibility to investigate the case because, well, I'm not a detective, and no one I know had anything to do with it. I certainly don't feel the need to video blog about it so I can locate thousands of people who would be willing to help me investigate the case.

I'm just wondering why Violet presented us with this newscast about a random killing (however disgusting) and then said she needed our help, as if that should be obvious. Without specific motivation, it makes her seem kind of like a busybody to me.

But then, I'm American, so maybe I'm just numb to this sort of thing? Confused

I think the problems are this:

1. The murder was high-profile, clearly targeted, premeditated, and public.
2. Also, there was a specified use of "pre-War" weapons, implying
----a. Pre-War weaponry is likely extremely hard to come by, let alone in working condition,
----b. Somebody found them and is running amok with relics of a repressed past, and
----c. there's unusually strong force being used here, considering the gag reflex.

That's what I got out of it.

Anyway, we're a week away.

What if Violet's being paid to investigate?

I mean, her adventure with the Cube would put her (and Kurt) into a position of being well-known for intrigue and adventure. Between her high-profile coverage, and her knowledge of bars and other information hotspots of PXC's world, would she be the type willing to leverage all of that into the private investigatory field?

Okay, maybe not...plus, that wouldn't explain why she'd be contacting us via mindcandy for help.

I agree. I don't remember where I read it, but I seem to recall reading something vaguely official (MC's website, maybe? not sure) saying that post-S1 Violet started a PI business...

That was said at the end of Season 1 party in the gherkin by Adrian in his speech. And suggested by her business cards that were in the packs. Violet PI, just wait until she grows a great big 'tach.
