Email From Frankie Francis

Quote:
Dear Eva,

I'm so pleased to hear from you. I don't exactly live in your old house in Springs but I've been staying here. It's been empty since you left, did you know that? I hoped you might get some comfort from seeing your old bear again and remembering how much your parents loved you. I'm really concerned - what things are happening to you at the moment? I'm not a medical doctor but you can tell me anything, woman to woman as it were and please call me Frankie. Of course I know you might quite rightly be cautious of a stranger like me but please reply as soon as you can.

With very best wishes,

Frankie Francis.

Also, here is a link to Frankie's picture from the website. I don't have PhotoShop. Can someone enlarge the photo to get a better look?

This is probably nothing, but there seems to be a few random spaces in the source code. It could just be your normal artifacts, but it just kinda jumped out at me.

For the sake of keeping our records complete, here is the text from the website. Notice it makes direct references to subject180287.net and describes it as some sort of "hive mind" created by viral marketing and memes.

'Subject180287'

The virulent spread of ideas across the Internet has become the focus of much media chatter and economic research in the last two years. Indeed peer-to-peer communication is now considered to be a major influence on our day-to-day choices and experiences. So much so that marketers, advertisers and broadcasters of all kinds consider viral activity amongst virtual networks to be the single most valuable tool in spreading brand awareness and news information. But can it be harnessed? The very nature of the virus is to adapt itself to becoming immune to any forms of constraint. Can it be predicted?

2.

Again the nature of the beast is to spring up unexpectedly in apparently random places and to grow in seemingly chaotic ways. Perhaps it is useful to refer to what Richard Dawkins coined as a 'meme'; a unit of cultural information transferable from one mind to another. However, my interest in this conundrum of modern culture lead me to look for evidence of phenomena which come into being without seeming to have any author, any source or indeed any reason has lead to my discovery of what I have come to call 'The Mind Map'. This is my own nick name for it, you may call it what you like; it seems to have called itself 'subject180287.net'.

Quote:
3.

How it started no one yet knows. It has simply come into being through the collaboration of individuals and groups of individuals. Geographically they are scattered around the globe but in the virtual domain they are one and the same mind. Is it truly unattributable to a single source? Is it connected to an individual anywhere in either the real or virtual worlds or perhaps in both? What this mind map is for and what it will achieve is now the focus of work. I do so not only as a scientist seeking 'the truth' but as I am also an artist I work with trepidation. Could the discovery of the true nature of the mind map destroy it? Or will it simply adapt, change and grow more powerful?

Dr Frankie Francis biography:

Born in the Netherlands, Frankie is currently based in Springs, New York. She is founder and head of the psivolution research institute, which allows both 'creatives' and 'technologists' to work together without constraint.

There appears to be nothing of significance hidden in the source code, although there does appear to be a button with a cog icon on it, which would indicate settings or an administration page - but for now, it has no active link.

Sweet, nice find.
This seems to be a major major site in terms of the story!
And I, for one, am very excited about it!

So basically in conclusion; we have an artist / scientist who claims to have discovered subject180287, and is claiming it as her work and research.

Her descriptions of s180287 pretty much turn what we had previously thought on its head.
sooo many, many questions to ask her!

/me scoots to hotmail

Here's her pic a little bigger. Can't go super large or too much detail is lost.

I've sent Frankie the following email: (here's hoping for some answers!)

Quote:
Hello Ms Francis,
I recently came across your website and found it most intriguing. I'm very interested in the topic you are currently working with, and if you don't mind, would very much like to ask you a few questions about it.
-How and when did you discover 'subject180287'?
-How would you summarise your view of what exactly 'subject180287' is?
-Are you currently carrying out any research on 'subject180287', or have you merely adopted it as a work in itself? If the former, what have your findings been?
-What are your connections with Eva Mcgill?
-Do you believe 'subject180287' is in any way related to Eva Mcgill?

Thank you so much for your time. I know its alot to ask. I'm just fascinated in you field of work at the moment.

Yours Sincerely,
Ollie

Hey,

I just came across your website and realised your name rang a bell, I am a friend of Eva McGill, I believe you just sent her her old teddy bear! (Ah blogging...). Your research sounds fascinating, the internet has spawned all kinds of phenomena but this one seems particularly unique. I instantly visited this mind map, subject180287.net (presumably it is the website you are referring to?) to investigate for myself, but there does not seem to be anything on the page, it just says 'connection denied', has this happened to you?

Not to be a dud, but the person that sent Eva a posessed teddy is the person I'd least trust our secrets and findings with.

I just left a message on the timehole forums asking Pat and Dave if they know anything about Dr. Francis. It's their line of work, innit?

I don't think what I sent was exactly revealing anything, if anything I was playing as dumb as possible. Also I don't think the bear is posessed, I am increasingly thinking that Eva has psychic/telekinetic abilities.

My eyes may be deceiving me, but...

Is our beloved Voiphe making a cameo appearance on her desk?

By the way...I think it's very cool that they got Alanis Morrissette for this part. Laughing

I asked Pat and Dave about Frankie Francis over on the Timehole forums.

Thunderwolf wrote:
Pat and Dave, do you know anything about a "Dr. Frankie Francis"? after reading her website at http://www.psivolution.com it would appear that she has some ties with Eva (I mean, she's "staying" at Eva's childhood home, she's sent Eva stuff in the post)...

This seems to be your field of work guys, do you know of Dr. Francis?

David wrote:

Hello Mr Thunderwolf.
We've not heard of this Frankie Francis person before. Patrick is afraid of doctors so I looked at her site. I need to keep re-reading it as I don't quite understand what she is getting at. However, if she is trying to help Eva then we should try to help Dr Francis. She's certainly in the right place to find out a lot of information.

Thunderwolf wrote:
haha "Mr. Thunderwolf". Call me Karl. Smile

Patrick wrote:

When you say you don't know what she's getting at, you mean you don't understand her because she's too clever for you. I'm not afraid of all doctors, I told you about my teenage experience with my family doctor in strictest confidence David. The man was 82 years old and his hands were very shaky. Anyway, Frankie Francis can be my doctor anytime, she's cute and brainy! (Don't tell Gilda I said that.)

David wrote:

Gilda would probably agree with you Patrick.

You haven't met Gilda, Karl...she goes away to Germany a lot...playing hockey.
