Is it possible to get a virus from AIM? I was about to get it but somebody told me it's an open door for viruses, has it gotten cleaned up to prevent any of that?

Ah! I was setting up an LJ account (http://rekidk.livejournal.com) and I actually looked in-depth at the various LJ accounts for the 8tsoc. There's a surprisingly large amount of information in there that nobody's brought up yet. For one, it gives us an AIM address for Chuckles (txchckls), and it also gives a bunch of other contact information. Finally, some of the characters wrote profiles, which might be useful for the wiki.

Also, you can only really get viruses from AIM if you open a direct connection. You can always refuse a direct connection, so as long as you're just chatting you almost certainly won't get a virus from using AIM.

Woah. So inkyjewel is really young. I'm talking to Yuckymuck at the moment. I'll post some bits of the conversation when it ends.

Lots of new information. A post on Yuckymuck's LJ suggested he's contactable through gmail talk - so I tried yuckymuckSPLATgmail.com and bingo. We were chatting. While I was there, I found a website with some Unreal Tournament pictures he did for fun a bit back - and we chatted about that too. I could screen capture the conversation, but since it was done in a web window, I can't just copy/paste it. So I'll just post the important parts of the conversation.

Then we talked a bit about where we lived. He lives in California - 60 miles south of Berekely. Recommended I look up "Hat Creek" which is connected to the Berekely astronomy dept.
