Sharon's meeting Nico tonight

Sharon's latest LJ entry
Quote:
Well, here goes nothing

Nico says he needs to meet me tonight, says hes in trouble and we (8tsoc) need to help him. He promises that nothing bad will happen, and weird as it sounds, I believe him.

Uncle Frank's Army buddy Tom is here, he's going with me and Uncle Frank is going to watch Grace. So don't worry! Gala knows where Im going and I can call her on Toms cell if theres any trouble.

We need to find out wtf is up with this guy. After all, w/o him none of us would be here, doing this.

YUcky, DONT WORRY!!!!!!!! I will call you and Gala as soon as I can, once I find out what he wants.

So hopefully we get a bit more backstory/news tonight

I wonder what these out of game folks think when they get emailed a link to what is essentially an espionage style video, with us asking "tell us what that spy is saying" Smile

Actually, I just sent the audio clip of just the Bulgarian. Not as worrisome

Ok, so does this mean that GT, yuckymuck, IJ, and Dess all live close together? Anybody know where any of them live?

Whois for the site is OOG

I looked up the whois for the main site, hoping that I could get dessus9's location, but it's registered to writerguy. Out of Game and off limits...

Eeep, is there any language close to it? Like Arabic or something? That's going to be pure hell.

Apparently it's Bulgarian or something....

It actually turns out to be Bulgarian or something, a Berkeley teacher confirmed that and someone posted about it earlier.

EDIT: Wow, this was a pointless post. Here's the post I was referring to:

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/posting.php?p=318221&mode=topicreview&postorder=DESC#318221

EDIT 2: I fail at life. This was supposed to be an edit to my last post, not a new post.

Just to be clear, the "this was a pointless post" part was referring to my post I thought I was editing, not the post you made. Very Happy

Was this posted already and I missed it?

Quote:

Imagine eight people brought together by trouble: trapped together (with thousands of others) in the Denver airport by a blizzard. We had a lot of time on our hands. We talked. We bonded. Awww. How nice.

One thing we talked about a lot: how the Internet scoops the official media. It's real obvious in a crisis. In Denver, as in the Katrina disaster, people found the true story on the Internet. News stories and gumment bulletins can never hope to match the agility of citizen bloggers and mobloggers, nor their honesty of people talking one to another. Internet people are the real first responders today, the boots on the ground.

Now, here's the thing. We eight have come to believe that a crisis is coming – on April 30, to be precise. (An oil shock, or something to do with oil.) We have no proof – it's just something a guy said in an unguarded moment. He may have been putting us on. But we don't think so. We have decided to prepare.

We're getting this website ready to be the nerve center. Come here to get the day-by-day. And this will be the place to tell your story, about your life once the crisis hits. Nobody else can tell your story – you're the authority on that.

If it is an oil shock, no one is going to be unaffected. There will be disruption and suffering, and probably chaos. Having a place to connect with others is gonna be vital. We will be in it together. Nobody should suffer in silence.

[22:02] gurrtin: Hey, this is PoeticExplosion from livejournal. Have you heard from Gracesmom yet?
[22:03] galateahw: not yet.
[22:11] galateahw: but not hearing from her is good news.
[22:11] galateahw: It means everything is okay.
[22:12] galateahw: that was the arrangement we had set up, anyway.
[22:12] gurrtin: Well, to play devil's advocate, she could be in a situation where she's incapacitated or doesn't have access to her phone. But I agree, no news is probably good news.
[22:14] galateahw: No, Frank would have called if that happened.
[22:14] gurrtin: good point
[22:15] gurrtin: they were meeting in a public place, right?
[22:15] galateahw: that I don't know but
[22:15] galateahw: Gracesmom got a good head on her shoulders.
[22:16] gurrtin: ya
[22:16] galateahw: Also, Nico not trouble, not in that way, I don't think.
[22:16] gurrtin: I agree, I think people are over-reacting. But I'm picking up on their paranoia
[22:18] galateahw: It's easy to do. Too easy.
[22:18] galateahw: We got to take some risks here, people.
[22:18] galateahw: Look to what we share, not what's different.
[22:19] galateahw: Ok. end of lecture.
[22:19] gurrtin: Smile
[22:21] galateahw: I'm going to have to go now.
[22:22] gurrtin: ok
[22:22] gurrtin: sleep well tonight Smile
[22:22] galateahw: Don't worry - we'll hear more in the morning I'm sure.
[22:22] galateahw: Thanks for your concern and help.
[22:22] gurrtin: I'm sure Smile
[22:23] gurrtin: and thank you for talking to me, I feel better about gracesmom Smile
[22:23] galateahw: no problem. Good night!

OriginalRedHatty: have you heard from Sharon? I am worried sick
galateahw: no. but i am not that concerned
galateahw: i would have heard if anything was wrong.

OriginalRedHatty: okay, that's good to know
OriginalRedHatty: do you think Sharon will let us know what happened tonight? or in the morning?
galateahw: no more news tonight.
galateahw: no news is good news.

OriginalRedHatty: I sure hope so!
galateahw: no, that's what we had arranged.
OriginalRedHatty: Can you tell me about this Nico dude? Do you think he is a corporate guy or a spy or what?
galateahw: I don't know any more than I did, really
galateahw: he got hold of some information, so yeah, a spy I guess.

OriginalRedHatty: spooky - but kinda cool ina way
galateahw: oh I don't know about that.
galateahw: Kinda cold, to have that info

OriginalRedHatty: well hopefully Sharon will get us more info and we can at least know why this oil crisis is gonna happen
galateahw: and hold onto it.
OriginalRedHatty: yeah, but a world wide panic would be worse, don't you think?
galateahw: it's not necessarily a panic when you have months to prepare.
OriginalRedHatty: true. but then again, I don't know what is supposed to cause the crisis, so i don't know if months would have made a difference
galateahw: We don't know that either. Never have. So we have been watching the news
galateahw: and speculating.

OriginalRedHatty: some of us on LJ have been talking to gether and speculating too
OriginalRedHatty: everything from alien attack (lol) to an oil producer not able to fullfill the futures contract
galateahw: Alien attack! Never thought on that one.
galateahw: Somehow I don't believe Nico is an agent to aliens.

OriginalRedHatty: me neither
galateahw: But an agent to big money somewhere, yeah, that I do believe.
OriginalRedHatty: with some insider info - that's where my thoughts lean
galateahw: I think you can make a lot of money in "oil futures" or whatever
OriginalRedHatty: you can even make a lot of money shorting oil futures
galateahw: I'm certain I don't know 98% of it.
OriginalRedHatty: I was trying to explain to som of my friends that the oil sold on the market today affect the price 3 months from now
OriginalRedHatty: scary to think that one of the oil producers was unable to fulfill a sales contract in the millions of barrels range
galateahw: what's scary to me is...
galateahw: if you don't fulfill your contract, the price of your product goes UP.

OriginalRedHatty: yes, because the supply goes down
galateahw: exactly.
galateahw: OK, gotta go.

OriginalRedHatty: and even the biggies like OPEC produce for what is sold for 3 months out
OriginalRedHatty: okay see ya later
galateahw: good night, redhatty.
