Is his vested interest a person? Good call! I thought someone close to Nico was being threatened in the video, but I can't figure it all out.

Has Nico seen the video ?

I got bored lol

http://nixxxi.deviantart.com/gallery/scraps/

I just threw them together Laughing If anyone wants to use them, then feel free.
I decided to keep them blank, so people could customise them as needed.
But if their no use it doesnt matter - it gave me something to do!

mPathytest is okay - here's her latest blog - grim news folks!

Quote:
Apr. 29th, 2007 01:13 pm Point of no return
I found Nico, hiding in a doorway, expecting Sharon and not liking it one bit when I showed up instead.

He got a lot happier when I gave him an envelope stuffed with money--as much as I could part with, and still hope to make next month's rent.

So we talked. He gave me the document. And I got more of the story.

This is the short version: The oil shock won't be temporary. It will be the big one. Oil flow is maxed out. There's no conceivable way to keep up with global demand. He used the words "big shudder step down". I don't even know what that means, but it sounds like a big deal. Major changes are on their way. Nico said we're crossing a threshold. And we won't ever be coming back.

There's no fixing the problem. We just have to adjust. Somehow figure out how to live in a world without all oil we want.

I get it now. This is it. A point of no return.

P.S. I got some of the meet-up on video. When I get back home, I'll take a look and post whatever's worth watching. I'm on my way to Port Authority to grab a bus home. I keep checking my pocket where the money used to be. Did we do the right thing. I wonder?

she's talking about how she doesn't know if she'll make rent next month??
How much money did Nico want? This almost feels like reverse blackmail or something.

So this is going to be longterm. I kinda figured as much. I was also wondering what documents he gave her. Plus we have video coming too. interesting.

I would be honest without giving anything away, You know that the meeting happened, but it wasn't with the person expected. You think Nico may not have gotten as much help as he had hoped for.

For those who follow this thread, whether on UnForums as members or lurkers who are playing WWO, can we please try to remember that this game is being promoted through the public school systems too & try to keep our language here & on the blogs a little more PG-13?

I know that kids say it too when the adults aren't around, but we don't have to reinforce that it is okay to use language that can be avoided with a little more thought.

/me steps off soapbox

fair enough

in fact, i edited one of my LJ posts when i found out about the students last week.

Flyers!

cissmiace! I was just coming here to say sure let's make some flyers and, here they are already. And they are great. Thanks so much for making them.

I am going to take some to my son's high school and to the high school down the street to give to the teachers for starters. Also, I found a meetup group for Peak Oil - I don't have time to get involved with them but I will take them some flyers. Also, the Audubon Society will probably let me put out some flyers at the next meeting. Not sure if any of this will bring more players but it will spread the word.

On Tuesday I am planning to purchase my solar oven supplies. I know it won't get warm enough here this time of year to make it work - maybe I can make some melted cheese sandwiches? or heat up some blackbeans? I guess we will find out! Wink

I guess she is just trying to find out about the meeting mpathy had with Nico. I don't know of any other meeting.

You don't have to reply right away. You can wait a while if you would prefer, she won't run away. It is smart that you set up contact with her. I wonder if you could ask her about the video she posted, why some of it was in black and white?

If you want to answer, you could just tell her that you are waiting for more news.

Mmmm ... what a tasty red herring!

Ok, so the pix are posted under "Iniscool". One of them is a site map of a zoo (I think) where the signs are posted in spanish (or similar), but I can't figure out where the zoo is. But! if you extract "nico" from "Iniscool" you get "Isol". (I know others have anagramed SinOilCo too.) A quick google and you find that there is a record company page that talks about an Argentina singer named Isol who has a friend named Nico. The page is called "Zoo Records..." Ok, so maybe this is just what I get for being paranioid and googling nico, isol and zoo. But if you look at the dates, they're either very recent past or future. But some of the future pages, for example, say that records "were released" on a date that hasn't occurred yet. Like maybe the page was just put up and is a front...

Well, we think it's legit, but it does seem peculiar.

I chatted with Emil earlier today. He basically just let me know what was in the blog post.

Quote:
saint3milion: yes -- turns out she ran off to meet up with Nico
GSAs I Dont Know: omg
saint3milion: she's back on a bus now
GSAs I Dont Know: thank goodness
GSAs I Dont Know: i was worried sick
saint3milion: everything went fine -- but Nico painted a pretty bleak picture for her
saint3milion: yeah, me too
saint3milion: thanks for watching out for her

GSAs I Dont Know: What did Nico tell her?
GSAs I Dont Know: no problem. we've been together for what feels like forever... i just... wanted her to be safe.
saint3milion: yeah me too
saint3milion: that's why she didn't tell me where she was going ... knew i'd try to stop her of course

GSAs I Dont Know: I don't think Nico would hurt her.
saint3milion: she said she was blogging about it on the WWO LJ
GSAs I Dont Know: Ah, I haven't seen that yet.
GSAs I Dont Know: I'll have to check it out now.
GSAs I Dont Know: I hope Nico doesn't use that money Evie gave him for anything but survival.

The comic style one reminds me of Sin City (the movie not the graphic novel) for some reason. It's kind of film noir-ish. I'm using it for my computer background.
