New website "Swordsmen..." puzzle
All in for the free prize draw for a helicopter (model)

On the new we love puzzles website this puzzle has appeared.....

"In the meantime, here's a puzzle for you. Email your answer to otherSPLATperplexcity.com and we'll select a random winner to receive a totallyfun PicoZ Micro Helicopter, Perplex City goodies, and Guy will write a song about how awesome you are. FACT.

Ready? Here you go:"

Swordsmen, honorable, jeopardous. Viscounts soften leopard's fate. Castle's heir hates science; builds doubt counterfeitly. Aesthetic hymns? Wednesday's answer rhymes "leopard", "djinni"; guaranteeing alignment. Plaid thistles guarantee psychosis.

First impressions are that the puzzle creator swallowed a dictionary - initial googling of some of the key words seem to throw up a lot of online dictionary, thesaurus and word puzzles.

Any other ideas or suggestions?

OKAY - I believe I have a solve - I won't post it yet, and of course it can't be a confirmed solve, but I'm pretty sure....
(big hints spoilered)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
.... this is a word puzzle - most of the words have something in common. More technically it's a letter puzzle and the letters spell out a question that must be answered.
(Though I'm not sure where a couple of the key letters have disappeared to!)

Have fun cracking it!

Big hint:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If a llama had followed the first leopard it would've made more sense!

I'm with you mate, season 2 - you have correctly solved 1 of 256 puzzle cards which makes you 53001 on our leaderboard and officially thick as pig s*** lol.

I think sometimes the clues people give to help actually confuse more than they help, this is far too clever for me so well done people who understood it

Looking back at my last hint, I can see why it might have confused rather than helped unless you'd actually already solved it! Confused
So don't be put off. There have been hints on other threads:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Try reading it aloud, and think about what you don't say rather than what you do.

I've got it now but the letters don't seem to fit properly unless I've messed it up somewhere, I don't even know if I've got it right. My answer will be in 2 parts is that right or have I screwed up (AGAIN lol) ??

Another clue :
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If this was a crossword, my cryptic clue to help solving it would be MUTE MAIL, remember the answer to the riddle is another question that then has to be answered

Hope that helps - if not then sorry !

Finally got it. The hints helped. The words that should have set off the bells in my mind were:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

djinni, Viscounts, heir, hymns, and psychosis

BTW, who has high hopes for Season Two, now that Mind Candy has screwed up on the first puzzle since season one ended??? Smile (jk)

P.S. Don't want to post the answer here in case people still want to solve, but if anybody wants to know, you can PM me and I'll tell you.

I'll tell you what, m'dear, you'll kick yourself when you find out the answer.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
On balance, I think I'm disqualified from this one...

I don't really see why you should be. (Yes I have solved it)

I think Ambien's hint above is the one that would have lead me to the answer.

Poozle, Sydney and co. PM me if you want a more direct clue but as Rand0m says

It's a nifty little puzzle to fill time whilst they fix the season two site. I have to say though, unless I've made a mistake I'm a bit upset that there's a word missing from the puzzle - doesn't bode well for the season two puzzle cards!

Solved it - my very first Perplexity puzzle! I can't believe I missed out on the whole first season. Quite a coincidence that I stumbled on to this game the same week BBC7 are serialising "Pattern Recognition".

Is the missing letter intentional perhaps, and what about the clue at the bottom of the page? Follow the fortress's lead? Is that a reference to the word 'castle' or is it a place in the city?

An idea:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Castle has a silent t, so do we drop the 't' from the phrase 'silent letter' or 'mute letter' and this will give us a web address like www.silenleer.com or similar?
