[SPEC-TASTIC SWEEPSTAKE] Who stole the cube?

Otherwise known as who is Combed Thunderclap (How do you comb a thunderclap?)?

Stake your claims below and I'll dream up a prize shortly (assuming finding the cube doesn't bankrupt MC and Adrian doesn't run-awf with the cash, a pack or two of Season Two cards?!) or maybe something from my hoard of PXC bric-a-brac.

Reasoning too please. Although it needn't be sensible. It might be just cos you fancy them a bit (mmmmm Bianca). See here for old-skool spec on the subject.

And because this thread is really just an excuse for me to expound my own theory you can't have Von.

Reasoning:

I am also convinced that CT was associated in some way with the Academy Earth Studies and the Center for Reality Research. The person's knowledge of Earth is pretty high. I think CT must know how to access the Academy website because of previous use of that website.

Rose got me thinking with this and I reckon Von did it. He got wind of V's attempt and stole it himself in order to protect it, sending it to Earth for reasons of geeky fandom.

I think it would be great if the geeky kid at the computer nicked it. Power to the nerd. Oh, and Sente knows too, but is protecting Von (where better to place him than in the CRT?) from V-type messy, disturbingly soundtracked repurcussions.

Tada.

ok, I'll take first plunge. I'll try not to be vindictive against difficult puzzle scribes. Very Happy
I like this sweepstake because there is no way of knowing for certain who did it at this point in time. Thinking over the characters, it is difficult to rule out anyone with complete certainty.

Eenee, meenee, minee, mo, I point the finger at:

Allain

He was having those weird memory blackouts, and was just plain mysterious. Plus maybe he was trying to get a subtle message out about the dangers of the cube.

Can Combed Thunderclap be a guess? If so, then that is my guess Laughing

If not, then I'd say a team of people consiting of Anna, Kurt, Violet and Von.

I'm almost certain it was Alejo Jackson, he seems like someone who might be seeking that bit of extra publicity, RFD seem to have dropped off the radar recently Evil or Very Mad

It seems I'm going to have to be brutal...

...one person (the mastermind if you think there's a team), bagging more than one person doesn't count and neither does Combed Thunderclap.

Themandotcom? Ryandrew? Sort it out! Razz

Well, I may as well place my metaphorical bet on one Patrick Azadian.

If he's not in charge and Violet is, then he's Vi's accomplice or something. Yep.

Not Combed Thunderclap huh? Then I'll say Sandy Huis, the missing person.

Tippy. It's got to be since it wasn't Anna.

I believe....Hesketh Zeller, he disappears suddenly (with the cube)...the academy realise this and create a hologram/replica/maybe there is more than one cube?...

...academy spend the next 100 years creating portal to bring cube back, Third Power get there first and transport themselves to earth...

and thats as far as my spec goes/someone has already named who I think actually stole the cube Razz

Nice theory, but if The Academy or whoever did/ could create a viable replica, why tell anyone the cube is missing at all?

Picky picky. The writers can write their way around that one in no time. So I pick Sente. It will involve (necessarily) a deeply convoluted plot twist that surprises us all.

edit: I was going to add something like "evil twins, for example" but then I saw BriEnigma has already employed it in the discussion of the book of leaves update today. Very Happy

I think... *you* did it. Yes, you reading this. Perplex City is in an alternate dimension, and everyone on Earth has a PXC counterpart, a yin yang if you will. I believe your PXC counterpart stole the cube, and the universe is seeking to restore balance by having the thief's opposite (you) find it again.

EDIT:
Want proof?
Syzygy is a kind of unity, especially through coordination or alignment, most commonly used in the astronomical and/or astrological sense. From the Late Latin syzygia, "conjunction," from the Greek σύζῠγος (syzygos), "yoked together."
