It's not Woodstock, 1969, as that didn't have the Rolling Stones or the Beatles.

Hendrix
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
died in September 1970, so that's the last possible year. He "shot to fame" in 1967, apparently.

Assuming that it's an actual weekend (i.e. Saturday and Sunday), from those years, that only leaves a single possibility:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
1968

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
led zeppelin formed in 68. hendrix died in 70.

three possible years - three card attempts Wink

i also think it's 1968, though, given the dates

Firstly Obrienk, for the sake of other players, could you please spoilerise your answers?

Secondly
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
although Hendrix didn't die until 1970, The Jimi Hendrix Experience disbanded in June 1969 - Jimi broke up the band and went solo thereafter. Led Zeppelin formed in July 1968 so the answer can only be 1968

Well, regarding creating and then disbanding the groups.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

The Beatles = 1962 - 1969
The Who = created in 1964
The Jimi Hendrix Experience = 1966 - 1969
Led Zeppelin = 1968 - 1980
The Rolling Stones = 1962 - Present
The Mindbenders 1963 and ceased in 1968. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mindbenders

So, the only possible year is 1968

The picture reminds me of a plaque on Große Freiheit in Hamburg where a club the beatles used to play. It also had a few of the other bands on the card also on it. Dont think it means anything but nice reference to it.

I used a different tactic - it is a "weekend" and the given dates are July 20 and 21, so

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I used a perpetual calendar (via Google) to look up the 1960's and found a year when those days were a Sat/Sun - had to be 1968)

OK kids - what about extra info? Seems like a lot of points (31) for a very easy "solve".

Got the answer on my second guess but according to Wikipedia, Led Zeppelin
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
formed in August 1968

so I don't see how
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
they would have been around in July

Actually, it's more confusing than that.
The date of Led Zeppelin's formation is a little difficult to pinpoint. The date used by Wikipedia is when Jimmy Page asked Robert Plant to join, followed by Chris Dreja leaving and the other members joining. However, the band initially performed as "The New Yardbirds" (although even then they had to play a few gigs as "The Yardbirds" for contractual reasons). They didn't agree to change their name until after the New Yardbirds Scandinavian tour, and their first public performance as "Led Zeppelin" (which is rather the point of the card) wasn't until:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
25th October 1968

- all of which is a rather long-winded way of saying that I'm afraid we have to chalk this up as another disappointingly-implemented card... Wink
