[S2] Cards set #068 Inversions

No scan but the card reads:

Quote:
IF YOU EAT IT, YOU WILL DIE.
IT IS GREATER THAN GOD, YET
MORE EVIL THAN THE DEVIL.
THE RICH NEED IT. THE POOR HAVE IT.
WHAT IS IT?

Guest puzzle architect {Michael Fox}

The back has the generic card information - the 7C's
(Collect, Crack, Claim, Compete, Climb, Claim, Create)

I know the answer to it, but I won't post, all I can say is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
think laterally.

I've known this riddle for a while now. In fact, when I saw the card and read the first line, I knew the answer and I was so happy.

Don't you mean "tricksy" devil"? It was one of the riddles Bilbo used against Gollum

It was interesting how my friend and I got the answer

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
We had both heard the riddle before but couldn't remember the answer. When he read the "GREATHER THAN GOD" part he jokingly replied "nothing." But then he realized that it actually worked for all of it.

That's exactly how I solved it the first time I heard it.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Thinking to myself...there's nothing that fits all of those descriptions...slaps head.

No scans yet, or a quote from the back, so here you go:

Back:

Quote:
The Apple-Thief (December 11 - January 10)

Despite your apparently criminal name, you are by no means a petty thief. You fight hard for capital-letter causes like Truth and Justice, though you can easily fall into the belief that the end justifies the means. You are easily fooled by those who would use your zeal to the wrong things.

Apple-Thieves rarely pause to consider consequences, and as a result are perceived as hasty and impulsive. You are prone to flash judgments; worse, no matter how erroneous, it is difficult for you to admit fault. This is not endearing, and grows less so over time.

Although you can form lasting and valued friendships with Hands, you should never date one. Eagles and Archers share your lofty ideals and ambitions, and such a combination is always dynamic, if a bit dull at parties.

Because of your sense of fairness, Apple-Thieves enjoy very successful if somewhat bland careers within the legal system.

I'd forgotten I was an Apple-Thief before this, and I love this riddle. I think I have found my favourite S2 card.

I've known the riddle for a long time, but it's still my favorite S2 card thus far. But that said, I've only done six or so and I've my whole box to go through...
