Yes, Eva was an amazing character. I really felt like I knew her. The personalization in this game was awesome.

My only criticisms (and I really didn't include them in the feedback form, d'oh) were that, indeed, it did end very fast (and I wasn't here for it!), and the ending felt 'explained' instead of 'shown.' However, looking at Frankie's last letter (which revealed everything), it seems that the clues were there for us the whole time. Overall, though, it was an awesome game. Smile

Yay PMs! Smile

We want a PM chat. ^.^

That would be cool! Maybe even have a couple of the actors...?

Round of applause from lurkers like me (who just read the forums, maybe clicked on a cow or two, and lived vicariously through your experience).

Huzzah!

i did a huge reply in the feedback forum so I'll just add my applause here. My only complaint. I wasn't in the credits. Still can't wait for your next game licorice. Wonderful job

One thing that would really end up making for a good ending

Don't you think that Keir and Eva should have a handfasting or something in a live event, or shown on video, with Wilson and Frankie looking on?

Tacky, I know, but it would feel like more closure.

Or show the two of them in front of a fireplace somewhere, stroking the cat.

All I can say is wow, what a game. Although I came to it late, I've thoroughly enjoyed playing the game and working with all the players to get those elusive solves.

The main characters in the game really made it for me, a huge ENCORE to all the actors and a big thank you to everyone else involved, I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say, "When's the next one?"

EDIT: Also, without sounding too cheesy Smile, if any of you guys are/intend playing another ARG give us all a shout as I would be honoured to play alongside you.

Hee!

You know, in my feedback, I was so happy overall with the game that I didn't think to post any "constructive criticism." Well done for doing so.

I'd agree about the endgame--to be honest, I didn't realise that the last puzzle WAS the last puzzle--I thought it was just going to get us into another video or page or something. Although I know you weren't really serious about this comment, after I realised it WAS the last puzzle, although I felt excited about seeing them escape, I was a little let down like I should have waited or...because the last puzzle wasn't a collective effort, it gave me this feeling of being selfish. I wanted to say, "but...but...but...I didn't KNOW!"

Some of the other puzzles were a bit better when it came to drawing on lots of skills from lots of different people. For example, the magic eye puzzle was brilliant in this respect--one person could tell it was supposed to be a magic eye, but couldn't see magic eye puzzles, so had to rely on someone else for that part. I also thought the Keir website page was good this way--you had to rely on movie knowledge AND cryptography AND the ability to get still frames from a flash movie, etc.

I know that this was done on a shoestring budget, but my ultimate ending would also have had something to do with a live ending. Like having a bunch of people assemble somewhere and actually have to type the code into a keypad to get into a room where Eva was waiting.

Of course, the ultimate ultimate would be if the people at the live event had to rely on people on the web to look at "real" web cams and tell them when it was safe to go into a hallway. Something like that, where it was physically impossible to get to the solve without having a lot of people involved.

Also, just to bring everyone into the solve, if it wasn't possible to get everyone together live, maybe do what was done with the chat sessions--set an appointment for the solve, where the code had to be entered in AT a certain time, instead of BEFORE a certain time. Then, everyone knows to be awake and together to watch the ending.

Again, though, I had SUCH a good time with this, and agree a lot with Jedi--Pat and Dave were the two characters that made us feel an emotional attachment. I'd have like to have seen a bit more romance with Eva and Keir, or at least a bit more interaction. And I'd also have liked it if someone had turned out to be evil.

Fabulous fabulous game--all of my constructive criticism boils down to the fact that I just wish there had been MORE, which says a lot.

Oops, I blinked and missed the end ><

Again to echo all the comments made so far, Brilliant game, excellent live event.

But I feel that the ending should have been slightly bigger, after all that has happened it seemed a little quick. We knew we were entering endgame, but it would have been nicer to give more of a nod to the ending coming up. I for one didnt check the forums last night and missed everything.

But still I am very thankful for a very polished Arg. Thankyou Hazel et al.

(And kudos to the bag lady, she was great!!)

Oh and BTW if you are still trawling our forums Hazel could you let us know if/when there will be a PM discussion on the game. Its always good to get all the unanswered questions or points answered after a game ends.

and the line "but should she need you again in future this means you will all still be able to communicate with her" makes me hopeful!! Wink

............

.......

I am seething with rage at the moment. Personal circumstances at home and work don't help, but still......

That's it? THAT'S IT?

.............

I am reminded of the end to Halflife 2, where I killed a big boss, and then went o make myself a cup of coffee ready for the next level. Only there was no "next level".

*Thunderwolf howls at the moon*

The game was great, but I have to say the endgame should have been better than this....

sigh.

I don't know. I'm pretty low right now anyway. Finding out I missed the endgame is a kick in the teeth.

*kills self*

I could post saying I told you so to some folks Smile

Whilst I understand that the ground rules were set from the beginning and that perhaps budget/financing played a factor, I had a hunch that something like that would happen, the timescales were just too short to adequately/elegantly finish the ARG.

That doesn't detract from the fact that it was a great game and I've enjoyed immensely my short time playing it and hope that the geist team get together and produce perhaps a follow up or a brand new ARG. Thanks all.

I couldn't agree more for more, the potential is/was there to make this a long running ARG Smile

Also, how many of you, that gave feedback, said you would be willing to pay for an ARG?

Whether that's like perplexcity financed through the card collecting or a monthly subscription or even a one off joining fee?

Rock On Thankyou!! MeiGeist truly rocked! It consumed my last 2 months like a blackhole (/timehole) of hilarity and intrigue. Pat and Dave are pure works of genius. -And I needn't even say how amazing the live event was!
So thankyou to all the work the PMs put in, it was certainly worth it. ...Although I'm now left with the dilemma of not knowing how to while-away the next 2 months! Very Happy

Oh the cruel feelings of ARG Withdrawl. You frantically check the forum hourly, recheck the websites, and your inbox. You are consumed with more information, you crave the interaction....

Ahhh, I know it so well. I was checking a few character MySpace pages for weeks after the end of Sammeeeees. It's a sign of a great story and wonderful characterization when the audience doesn't want it to end. But it always seems too short. And we all think it sucks (that it ended) so we often hate the ending (cause that is what pushed us back out of the AR and back into RL). Sigh.
