Random username generator.

My avatar is from the theme song of Dead Like Me, which happened to be my favourite show when I first signed up on UF some 3 years ago.

Oooh, I like this thread! I shall now add my rather uninteresting tale to the collection. I hope you're sitting comfortably!

I've been known as myf for the last 13 years or so, several years before I had internet access. When I was 14/15, I had a friend who refused to use his real name, and was known by his chosen nickname by everyone (including his teachers at a fairly posh school). I decided that if he could choose a nickname, so could I. As I'm half Welsh, I wanted a Welsh name, and went through a baby-naming book to find one I liked. I chose Myfanwy, but English peasants Wink can't say or spell it, so it got shortened to Myf. I later decided to have no capital letter, mainly due to laziness when typing it out all over the web - et voila! The story of myf. To this day, most of my friends refer to me as myf, and some do actually forget what my real name is. Most of them think myf suits me far more than my real name. It also turns out that my parents did consider naming me Myfanwy, but decided against it - a fact I only discovered a few years ago.

As for my avatar, a friend of mine got given an "It's Happy Bunny" book. I thought it was really funny, so I went and found a picture to use. It is a fair reflection of how I often feel, but it's cute with it! It was that or a WeeMee, but I hate having pictures of myself around, so the bunny won.

EDIT - June 07 - I got bored with the bunny, and changed to one that is on my new favourite T-shirt from Noisebot.com

I realize this thread is a little old, but I'm new! So it's all good.

My name I got from some friends when I broke my arm a couple of years ago, they were mocking me while I was trying to play volleyball and baby a tender arm that had recently escaped the clutches of a cast.
As for my avatar, I joined recently to get in on Iris (Halo3 ARG), (ILB was awesome!) and after checking the definition of "ris" on dictionary.com - a branch or bough- I knew the picture had to be made and I have to say I'm quite proud of it.

"Furry Mark" was my nickname at university - originally it was to distinguish me from one of my close friends (and later our best man) who was also called Mark. I got called Furry due to my wild hair and beard - they called him "Greasy Mark" for similar follicular reasons, but that name didn't stick (as oftens happens with grease).

The avatar is one I've used on various boards - it is a heavily modified version of an old picture of Cousin Itt (which was one of my other nicknames...)

My nick is actually the name of a decker I played in Shadowrun. In my early days of venturing onto the net I tried a few different screen names until I tried this one and, lo and behold, it always seems to be available.

As for the avatar...that's a good question. I picked little Cy here for several reasons. For one, I like to mess with people sometimes Very Happy . For another, I felt sorry for the poor little creature. Cy just pulled a bad hand on that trip through life. For yet another, it reminds me that there are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosphy

I like to think that my name comes from a long story, but it's actually rather short. It does come in two parts, though.

Part the first: "Lex"
One day, years upon years ago, a friend introduced me to his friend. As is custom, we entered each others numbers on our respective mobiles (cellphones to you wacky Americans). My new friend seems to have been incredibly lazy and decided to shorten my already short (5 letter) name to 3 letters, "Lew", then messed up the last letter and didn't bother to change it. So I became "Lex".

Part the second: "Agent"
Simply put, I was into The Matrix at the time I came up with the name. I shall bow my head in shame upon request.

The avatar is just my custom avatar on Kingdom of Loathing. Despite its phallic appearance to some, it's supposed to be an Emo Squid wearing Wax Lips. Because it's emo, and they make it smile. I'm so witty.

I actually hardly play KoL any more, and feel the need to change this avatar.

No Lexy, sorry - it's definitely a waggling, slightly smug penis. And you're the only person I've met with an avatar T-shirt...very cool Smile

Wow, all this time I thought that was the floating, disembodied head of a Bedouin or something.

Some of us found this board and ARGs because of The Matrix and the wonderful game called Metacortechs. No shame in that.

I like the floaty part of that avatar but I never recognized the Emo Squid. I thought it was a funny caricature.

You obviously weren't at ARGfest-o-con 06. On the first night I wore a shirt with Cy on it so that everyone would be able to recognize me Wink

since im reading in the 'other' section i thought i'd post, even though i'm not known yet here. another boring story for a name and avatar...

avatar: honestly i don't know where i got it from. someone's open flickr page or some random website somewhere (maybe thanks to stumbleupon?) but its just the kind of thing that struck me. i like it, and that's enough for me.

boring right? well here's more Embarassed

im sure you can guess that "arg" is an obvious reference. this simply dictates for me that any account with that in front is an arg name for me (yahoo, aim, whatever, if it's got an 'arg' its an arg account for me - of course in this day and age, i'd like to keep ME personal)

tater, i'm sorry to admit to you potato loving fans, has nothing to do with your favorite fried product. long, long ago i started calling my best friend, who's name is Stephanie, Steph...then Step, then Tep. She decided that since her new name started with a 't', mine should too. and thus, Tate was born. then Tater. Then Tatertot, of course. most of the online world can find me as tatertot13 (13 is my luck number) or smtatertot13 (sm=stage manager - i'm a theatrical stage manager among other things). when i re-found arg's and wanted to leap right in (but keep my "normal" life out) it seemed easy to just tag everything with arg. and thus, the new tater was born...

told you it was boring Cool

/me demands photographic evidence! You can't name-drop ARGfest and then fail to give evidence of the T-shirt! Razz
