It's funny, we used to refer sites like that as OOG - out of game. In some ways using TIAG reduces TINAG to simply meaning IG - in game, which it's a bit better than. See this thread for more discussion.

I wouldn't worry about spoilering stuff, I'm not sure where you would have had to be not know that stuff. Better tagged as meta perhaps?

I think MC are playing a bit fast and loose with TINAG. They originally involved themselves in the plot (and, it seems, had planned to do more along that route from some of the plot ideas in the 'behind the scenes' stuff); this was most noticeable in the Culture Show interview for the BBC, and when Adrian and Naomi appeared in the leaked e-mails discussing the cards with Sente.

With the PXCstories site, we know we're going to be involved with an interactive story of some description if we sign up, and the site is OOG. So this season we have a rabbit-hole that says "this is a rabbit-hole" rather than season one where it said "shhhhh! Follow me ". But who cares? Knowing a book is a book doesn't stop you reading and enjoying it and getting deeply, personally involved with the characters; good old suspension of disbelief steps in. Though personally, I always get really embarassed and have to leave at half time unless a play is really, really good or I'm pissed - that's theatres for you (sometimes the ushers trap you...that's one of my nightmares, then the trick is to pretend you're a chain smoker and sidle up the side of the building, fumbling for imaginary cheroots in your jacket).

The PXCstories site looks a bit temporary, so perhaps we'll have to keep an eye out for rabbit-holes, after all, we're the ones who stuck around to see the join between the two...how are they going to get new players for PXCstories with the divorce from the cards?

Thalamus: All I'm saying is that the current story arc is finished. If Violet and co were to disappear tomorrow, admittedly there would be one or two loose ends but generally things would be okay. With PXCStories, a new arc is happening, in the same world, with the same characters, but nevertheless a new story.

I'm going to compare this with Discworld. In the Discworld series, there are recurring characters (for example, the witches, or the City Watch) who are the main characters of more than one book. However, each book is its own separate story. One could theoretically read Thud! (the latest Watch book) without ever having read Men at Arms (an earlier book focusing on the Watch characters), just as someone could jump into PXCStories with a quick primer on Season 1.

Oh man, TIAG and TINAG is so confusing. I am not even sure what TIAG means, except that it is where the PMs admit something is a game? And once a game ends, most games post some sort of credits. So maybe that is what the video of them burying the Cube is all about.

In PPC the line is blurred but I think it made it much harder for them to be both PMs and characters in the story.

I don't even understand why Perplexstories is OOG. Isn't the video the first step, or opening paragraph to the story they are going to be telling? Or maybe once the game launches it will only be on Violet's new site?

I think I have forgotten all the META I used to know.
