EMAIL: From Sam, JD is Dead

Sally,
Things are going crazy around here. There is still no sign of or word from
Dale. I just talked to Wes again and he hasn't heard anything either. But, I do
have some news, some terrible news.
I'm pretty sure I wrote you late last night but don't remember for sure in all
this insanity. I got a phone call late last night about the Police being out in
the area where Dale was supposed to be yesterday. Well, it took a while and
calling in some favors but I finally found out what happened. They found a body
out there. J.D. Willingham's body. I don't know anymore details yet, though,
except that the Mayor is supposed to be going over to break the news to Phyllis
Willingham. I don't know if he's done that yet or not, so please, if you are
one of the people who correspond with her, let the Mayor handle it personally,
OK?
Wes was going to try and go out there and see if he can get anywhere near the
area without causing too much suspicion, because we still have no idea where
Dale is. We're guessing that it'll still be crawling with both Aglaura and NJ
State Police people but we have to try. I'm going to try and get a hold of
Tracie Schmidt, from the Channel 8 TV station, because she was supposed to be
meeting Dale earlier, before he met with JD. Maybe she'll have something to
tell us about her meeting with Dale that will help.
I am getting very, very worried, Sally. Please let me know if you hear anything
at all.

Sam

Dear Pam,

I fear that I must tell you something has happened with Phyllis. She
does not yet want anyone to know and will tell you herself in a few days, once the pain and shock have eased. You may wish to watch the news; I believe Chief Prufrock said the news would be made public within a few days. Once it is public, Phyllis will have no choice but to deal with it, but I do not wish to be the one to shorten her time to try and come to grips with the events of overnight. Be aware that I am going to try and keep her from even turning on her computer for a few days. She has more than enough to deal with without adding in that aspect.

Pam, I am sorry to be so cryptic. I wish I could tell you specifics,
since I am sure you are worried, but I do not believe in sharing other people's bad news without permission. Perhaps she will give me permission tonight. I have to go and finish packing. Phyllis has asked me to stay with her in one of her spare bedrooms and I think for now it is for the best. The boys should be back tonight and hopefully they can help me sort through everything that has happened then.

Iris

Poor Jud is Daid.... (a musical Eulogy)

http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/oklahoma/porejudisdaidalternatetakecompleteversion.htm
FROM Musical: OKLAHOMA
Song: Pore Jud Is Daid (Alternate take/Complete Version) Lyrics

CURLY (singing):
Pore Jud is daid, pore Jud Fry is daid;
All gather 'round his coffin now and cry.
He had a heart of gold and he wasn't very old,
Oh, why did such a fella have to die.

Pore Jud is daid, pore Jud Fry is daid;
He's lookin' oh, so peaceful and serene (JUD: and serene).
He's all laid out to rest with his hands across his chest;
His fingernails have never been so clean.

CURLY (spoken):
Why then the preacher'd get up and he'd say:
"Folks, we're gathered together here today to moan and groan over brother Jud Fry who hung himself up by a rope in the
smokehouse."
(Then there'd be weepin' and wailin', from some of those women.)
Then he'd say:
"Jud was the most misunderstood man in the territory. People used to think he was a mean, ugly fella; used to think he was a
dirty skunk and orn'ry pig stealer."

CURLY (singing):
But the folks who really knowed him, know that beneath the two dirty shirts that he always wore,
There beat a heart as big as all out doors (JUD: as big as all out doors).
Jud Fry loved his fellow man (JUD: he loved his fellow man).

CURLY (spoken):
He loved the birds of the forest,
He loved the beasts in the field,
He loved the mice and vermin and he treated the rats like equal (which was right).
He loved everybody and everything, he loved the little children only . . . only he never let on, so nobody ever knowed it.

CURLY (singing):
Pore Jud is daid, pore Jud Fry is daid;
His friends'll weep and wail for miles around (JUD: miles around).
The daisies in the dell will give out a different smell
Because poor Jud is under neath the ground.

JUD (singing):
Pore Jud is daid, a candle lights his haid.
He's layin' in a coffin made of wood (CURLY: wood),
And folks are feelin' sad 'cause they used to treat him bad,
But now they know their friend is gone for good (CURLY: good).

BOTH (singing):
Pore Jud is daid, a condle lights his haid.

CURLY (singing):
He's lookin' oh, s'purdy and s'nice.
He looks like he's asleep, it's a shame that he won't keep,
But it's summer and we're runnin' out of ice.
BOTH (singing):
Pore . . . Jud
Pore . . . Jud

As predicted by me! The disappearance of JD was inevitable.

Hey, swing enough and you touch the ball.... Wink

If he's been shot, I would worry about where Dale's gun is now!

Dear Pam,

Thank you for respecting Phyllis's privacy and need for personal space.
I am sure you understand that even though she and her husband were having problems, she still, in some sense, still loved him. I do not know what she would have done had he come to her and confessed all, vowing to turn his life around. I think, deep down inside, that she still loved him and was more hurt by the physical and emotional distance he had placed between them recently than anything else.

Phyllis has asked me to deal with her contacts for a while and has given me permission to answer questions as best I can. I will try my best to be a good intermediary.

Thank you again Pam. I will pass along your heartfelt sympathy and let
Phyllis know you will be there for her whenever she is ready.

Iris

Another email from Sam - it's a dead MALE in the Lake

Heather:
It's hard to keep up with things around here, so much has happened and
things just keep getting crazier and crazier. And no, there's been no word for Dale.
Have you seen the latest news post on the Aglaura website? The police found a body in the Lake of Tears. It seems like Iris Page's vision or dream was right after all. I guess I shouldn't really be too surprised with everything I've experienced recently.
I'm trying to be optimistic but I'm getting a terrible feeling about this latest turn of events. The police are being extremely tight-lipped about who they found, too. All I have been able to find out for sure is that it is an adult male. Wes and I are both working every local and New Jersey
contact we know to try and find out more. I promise to let you know just as soon as we find out anything at all.
In the meantime, please, pray to whomever or whatever you believe in that Dale is OK.

Sam
