Searching for 'Alternate Reality Game' on YouTube when I found this clip. Not sure what's it about, but it looks professional. I did a search and couldn't find it here on UnFiction.

It looks like it was posted by someone unrelated to the game.

 		It was only uploaded 2 days ago, so here's hoping it's new! Those coordinates are in the Museumpleine (Museum square) in Amsterdam, across the street from the Concertgebouw. What's more, it's where the biohazard guys are working in the video: compare this screencap with Wikipedia's photo of the Concertgebouw and you'll see what I mean.

I also caught a glimpse through the smoke of what I think is the Rijksmuseum, which is down at the other end of the square. I didn't see those checkered flags in any photos though.

plugs, I don't know if you'll be anywhere near the Museumpleine, but if you were able to snap some photos of the area it could end up being a big help!

 		Well, I'm passing through Amsterdam so I'll be around the station. If there's a very concrete reason to stop by that area on Wednesday, I'll definitely be up for taking a detour and gettng a later train for it!

Definitely looks interesting...could potentially be something there.

Where were the Amsterdam coordinates, btw?

Just found some more info (in German) about this ARG. It's being done to introduce two new Dutch tv channels. The initial riddle was discovered by a hacker and it became clear that something was going to happen in the Dutch Museum square. Not sure if it is still going but there are trails on the Dutch Hyves and Flickr sites as well as on Youtube. Apparently the game has started and many players have packed it in already as the clues are too hard. There are prizes to be won apparently.

Zur Einführung zweier neuer TV-Kanäle im holländischen Digital-Fernsehen hat sich die Betreibergesellschaft NBC Universal Global Networks etwas ganz besonderes einfallen lassen. Einerseits werden die beiden Kanäle13th Street und Sci-Fi Channel auf der Seite They're here beworben, was allein betrachtet noch nichts besonders ist. Andererseits startet damit auch ein Trailhead für T.A.H. (They Are Here), einem Alternate Reality Game in dem nicht nur die vorkommenden Charaktere sich einiger Agententricks bemächtigen müssen.

Alles begann als ein Hacker namens Wallfly den Zugang zu der T.A.H.-Website erlangte und diese ein wenig modifizierte. Es handelte sich dabei um das Initialrätsel, durch dessen Lösung man an die Information gelangte, dass schon bald Etwas in der Museumsplein in Amsterdam geschehen würde. Von da an erstreckt sich der Trailhead über die holländische Social Network Site Hyves, auf Flickr, zu Youtube, per Email bis in die Tageszeitungen und ins Fernsehen. Es gibt also viel zu entdecken und nur wer ein wachsames Auge hat, kann auch allen Details folgen.

Trotzdem hat die Art und Weise wie dieses ARG den holländischen Zuschauern und Spieler präsentiert wird bereits für einigen Unmut auf Seiten der Spieler gesorgt. Die Aufgaben scheinen auf den ersten Blick häufig zunächst fast unlösbar. Hinweise die zur Lösung führen werden häufig erst nach vielen Tagen auf den Ingame-Websites gestreut. Bei einigen Lösungswegen haben die Macher dann wiederum so viele Hinweise gestreut, dass man die Aufgaben gar nicht komplett lösen muß, um dafür Punkte zu erhalten, was ebenfalls zur Verärgerung der Teilnehmer führt. Einige haben T.A.H. deswegen inzwischen auch den Rücken gekehrt und werden wohl so schnell nicht wieder mitmachen, trotz der Preise die es dort für das Lösen bestimmter Aufgaben zu gewinnen gibt.

Vielleicht werden die Puppetmaster auf die Wünsche Ihrer Spieler eingehen und entsprechend einlenken. Das wäre jedenfalls wünschenswert, denn ohne Teilnehmer wäre der ARG-Bestandteil sonst beendet und was bliebe, wäre allenfalls ein Gewinnspiel mit Story-Elementen.
