Long time lurker, very first post!
Good job on the cipher hellzbellz. Are we keeping RL informed of what we're finding in WiR's blog? I think that's what she wants us to do:

Im confused. If the mesage was for Red and the meeting was supposed to take place yesterday, was WIR waiting for us to figure out the cipher and get the message to him. She clearly says to tell Red. Maybe we were too late!?!
OOPS... guess I should refresh before i post!
EDIT. Well I left a message for red informing him of our findings. Hopefully that should prompt some kind of response.
Still working on the other message but its really time consuming.

stegged photo um, I'm sure you've all noticed it but I don't recall it being mentioned:
if you look at the mysterious stegged photo http://www.freewebs.com/womaninred/1steg.JPG
there appears to be a line of text across the middle of the picture.
I was just wondering if anyone with any degree of photo editing skill has tried to enlarge it and sharpen it to the point where it's readable. Could be important.

It was mentioned here .
Quote:
Photograph of the Porch of the Caryatids (at the Acropolis) proclaiming itself to be stegged.
Photograph also boasts further illegible text and a CIA cornerstamp.
The solution probably leads to the further hidden information/photos mentioned by WIR.
I've tried to make it more readable, with very little success. However my PS skillz are intermediate at best.

my eyes are crossed I've been looking at that first set of coded letters all day yesterday, last night and this morning.... my eyes are blurry, my neck stiff and my head aches.... yet i am determined!!!
I am thrilled with the breakthrough that hellzbellz worked so hard for!! Well done!
Yet, I'm disappointed we havent heard back from the either of the Reds.
Going back to the crypto-torture chambers now!

I was thinking the same. If we figured out the cipher to late, maybe this thing has burnt out! Not very motivating when ive spent the last two days staring at a load of jumbled letters. Shame if its over already.
There is a guest book on WiR Pinellis site, should we leave a message?

cant hurt, hellz. i've taken a break from the letter torture and been randomly googling some thoughts.
did you know.. there's a Tonio Pinelli who lives in a community in Mass. who's newsletter is "The Whistler" LOL. very OOG, but I thought it was funny.
also, our friend Redford Lewis' blog was mentioned in another blog called Trickle of Consciousness, but it's just a blurb about ARGing.
oh well.. back the the letters...
eta: this first set of coded letters probably say: If you noobs dont hurry up and solve something we're gonna just let you hang here. LOL

Im still trying with the second cipher but its tedious to say the least, its much bigger than the other one and its probably to late any way. I think i'll give it another day and if we don't hear anything back by then im gonna call it a day
Not sure how much good it's going to do us now but I found that in the WiR username (womaninred9411 ) the last four digits is the zip code for a street in SF within spitting distance of pier 39.
Quote:
At some points all roads lead to San Francisco
I also sent an email to WiR pretty much saying that if we don't hear from them soon, we will assume we were to late.

That's odd... I thought I had posted yesterday. Ah well.
Nice solve! Yes, its unfortunate that its a bit too late, but good job regardless!
Hopefully this won't fizzle... I really hope they're just waiting on us to solve some more puzzles.

It's a scrambler with circled letters and a fill-in-the-blank sentence.
One word has no circle, and there are only 27 spaces in the fill-in-the-blank sentence, but 30 letters circled.
The fill-in-the-blank looks quite jumbled as well. So without knowing which 3 circled letters don't belong in the sentence, it may be a tough go.

[solution] (partial) new puzzle Here's what I've come up with. If you've completed this puzzle, please let me know if I have an error:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Bacall
Bogart
Pinelli
Falcon
Smith
Redentore
JohnPaul
Vatican
Allegheri
Postern
Gordon
Venice
Rome
London
Death
Murder
Connections
Secrets
Exacerbate
Exterminate
Explicate
Entitlement (the onlyone that doesnt give a letter clue)
Weaponry
Willpower
Ignomious
Begemony
Killer
So that left me with:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
AOIFLSHTNIAOGCMOTEERARIWYWSHKL
i see some seven letter words like: foolish and mistake that could be the 4th word in the sentence.

The framework given at the bottom of the page has 30 spaces but in the solution there are only 27. Man o man I HATE anagrams. And ive officially given up trying to figure out the first coded message its impossible!

Nah, actually it was quite late and there were two words I didn't manage to unscramble.
Allegheri - but I think it's Alighieri as in Dante Alighieri
- no matter because it's the first letter that's circled.
Ignomious - this isn't an actual word.
Ignominious is a word...but too many letters.
I was stuck on something starting with "omni " and couldn't seem to take it farther.
And for Postern I had Preston
-which didn't make a lot of sense in context, but neither did Gordon .
I'm thinking your Begemony is a simple typo as there isn't a B in that word
-I had Hegemony .

Anyway, I'm only cursorily following the storyline, but how do the puzzles fit in to this storyline? Why is WiR giving puzzles to solve and relay to Red? Why doesn't she just email the info to Red herself? I'm not sure exactly what the role is, I just puzzle-fiddle.
Anyway, here is the best I could do with the sentence...using all 30 letters.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
SMITH WAS LOYAL(E) WORKING FOR THE CIA
It's obviously incorrect, but the two three letter words at the end have me stumped. Maybe someone else can work off of it.
Common three-letter words (words with letters not in the string removed):
Quote:
the for are not all any can her was one get has him his how man new now see two way who its let say she too
ETA: If I use the Preston I got instead of Postern , it gives an R instead of an O, which yields:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
SMITH WAS REALLY WORKING FOR THE CIA
That's using all 30 letters and assuming that there was a mistake in the boxed sentence structure - with a three letter word box left off.
