snip..Now, for the wall that is exposed. Notice how groups of the tiles are connected. Does it remind you of the Mayan puzzle last year?

We know they've already re-used several graphics....it wouldn't be surprising to find they've given new graphics to an old puzzle. I guess we'll see in a matter of hours!

Any discussion? Speculation?

You maybe right that it's a tile puzzle, but I think it's likely that the 'hold screen' is off to the side of the main picture, without any real helpful infomation shown.

Actually I was alluding more to the fact that certain groups of the tiles are connected by a line and others are not.

Nice thought, but you're going against the wishes of the mods. Notice the "USE THIS THREAD - DO NOT START NEW THREADS!" label on this thread?

Sorry Guys (& Gals)

I forgot about that and did it out of habit from admin'ing some other sites/blogs. I'll leave this show to the mods here...

Very interesting.

Very very interesting.

Gonna havr to try annonymizing my internet con. Only #7 goes live here in the UK at 17:00 local time. OK I thought, I do what we did last year, and go to http://thehunt.volvocars.net/jp/xxxxXxxxxX substituting UK for JP takes me to the Japanese version of the game, and they are 9 Hours ahead of us, so that SHOULD have gone live @ 09:00 here in the UK. But I am still getting the 17:00 message.

So they must have some way of telling what time zone we are diallling in from. Or even what country we are from.

Local Time

I'm willing to bet that they are opening all the sites at one time only, and by "local time at this location" they have put it on us to find out the time at the location of each puzzle.

I do think they caught on to people using the other sites to get a jump last year, but the primary reason for doing that would've been their concern for all the traffic hitting their servers. Not that they wouldn't have worried about what time it was opening to the players but again, that's our problem.

They know how much traffic to expect this time around and for the money they put into this contest, the $$$ for the appropriate hardware and networking to address that problem is chump change.

Tracking people's time zone's doesn't wash with me because, you are then moving into the realm of not being fair (and higher resource). What if I took trip out of country during the game? Are they really going to delay me on the English site because I'm at an internet cafe in Moscow at the time (or visa versa)? What if an exchange student wants to play in their native language? I think that is a legal can of worms they would want to stay away from as well as not being a "corporate-style" decision...

It should be 17:00 in Socotra at 10:00 EST or in 2hrs 10mins from this post. Let's see how it works...

Wow, if that's the case this year, it'll be 11:00pm in Japan and midnight in Australia before the sites opens.

Definitely not as bad as Cozumel last year. Was anyone having hang-ups or getting server errors like I did. Held me up for about ten minutes.
