Yes. If you want hints, go look at the separate thread about the puzzle in question. Every puzzle to date has a thread now.

How did you get a complete picture of the maze? That would have helped me solve the puzzle much faster. I need to learn that. lol. Thanks

You can either screen shot it and piece it together like a puzzle in Photoshop, or if you like to hack and know Java/Flash you can capture the .swf file, then copy the main image into Photoshop....or Paint, or whatever photo application you have.

Both are time consuming. Confused I think Varin and Six had it in about two minutes while I was running down files.

Getting the .swf file sounds best - can anyone tell me how to do that ?

if you are using a PC, go and find you temporary internet files folder. I found it best to emty the folder first and then visit the site to get the minimal amount of files.

Once in, only consider files begining 01 02 etc... they are the only ones that count. With the riht software you can decode them. However, unless you have that software you cannot play them outside of a browser with all the encryption garbage that follows.

Decompiling the flash isn't always useful. For example, you will never get the destination as a link, that is not in there.

For the start puzzle, the sheet of paper with all the number is available. However, for the crabs in cuba the numbers you uncover are almost matchstick. and the pieces in the file are only sections, not complete numbers.

For port royal, the map is available, but the numbered icebergs are seperate images, so you still have to put them in order.

For the Southwestern Atlantic all we have is the video of the numbered man.

For the Southeastern Atlantic you need the map from the dealer.

For Socotna, as noted, the tiles change. Only the individual tiles are available, not the complete maze.

For Ceylon there are no written number to discover, and it is easier to weigh the spices than to try and work out the action code within the flash.

And of course, we are all waiting on the Bay Of Bengal.

You can get it out of your browsers cache. For Firefox, open a new tab and type "about:cache" in the address field. For IE, Tools->General->Settings->View Files. Then you have to track down the right file in the respective list. In Firefox, you can use the browser search tool effectively to help find the file. Of course, then you need a SWF decompiler (free ones can be found) and enough knowledge to use and understand it.

In the case of this maze, you would only find images of the different tiles in the SWF file, no single image (yeah, I looked). That's because in this case the maze is generated at runtime using the tiles semi-randomly (everyone gets the same path to solve, but the tiles used to make the path change every time you load).

So the complete pictures you saw were almost certainly from people who assembled a couple dozen screenshots.

Or 46, to be exact. Very Happy

In the decompiler you can remove the "hide" params, and copy the background image in one screen shot, but that didn't work on the maze for me.

Has anyone actually read the official rules? I found this section kinda funny

Quote:
Any person who has been convicted in a court of law or entered a plea of guilty or no contest to any felony or any crime involving moral turpitude, dishonesty or theft, or who has been convicted in a court of law or entered a plea of guilty or no contest to Driving While Intoxicated within the 10-year period prior to May 3, 2007 will not be eligible to win.

Still no first email!

I have a code from a dealership, and I "joined" Friday, having entered all of my info along with my email address. After 2 hours, no email, so I tried it again. Went away for the weekend, and STILL no email. Does anyone have any idea what to do? It seems silly to call the Volvo dealership, but there are no tech support or faqs or anything useful on the hunt's website.

Any suggestion, other than "maybe you entered in incorrect info" (which I already checked), is appreciated. Laughing

Thanks!

I don't get them (yet )this year either. Maybe after you enter your map code on number 5. Just keep playing you have to enter it again at the end to be recorded for the final attempt.

Also don't forget to check your bulk email folder, it may end up in there.

PM me if you're running the full version. I'd like to know more about it...

I'm using the Eltima (freebie) Flash Decompiler. It limits the number of extractions/conversions but, is helpful from time to time, all the same. It will allow me to fully convert a .swf to a .fla, where I can just open it in Adobe/Macromedia Flash. I've seen all the same issues pointed out. Even though your capturing the objects, code, sprites, etc, it doesn't necessarily help you piece them together.
