According to that BWOG site, this isn't an ARG, but a puzzle intended solely for the community of a college campus.

The only things referencing a college is this:
Quote:
"the college equivalent of an AD&D party".

and this:
Quote:
students must submit clues

So if the intention was to merely target a specific group of students, it was not made apparent by the bwog.

I'm looking through my ARG Nazi obituaries, and I'm not seeing anyone I know..................... Wink

Meta talk:

Cryptic or not, the message remains the same. This is not for any of you.

The funny thing about the internet is that content you post there is viewable to everyone in the whole world who has net access unless you take certain precautions, like implementing passwords (among other things). This link was posted to a high-traffic website - ask.metafilter.com - and spread all over the place from there.

If you're in-game, you shouldn't be posting here. Please consider this a friendly warning to mind the Unfiction posting guidelines.

If you're trying to restrict your audience, you should use other methods to make that happen rather than releasing a URL into the wild.

meant for students

Yeah, i think they just don't want students searching online and getting all the answers from you guys.
I go to columbia and i see the flyers every now and then...
I talked to someone who solved that first puzzle and one of the other ones, and he said once you put in the correct solution you then have to give your UNI (like your school username). I guess that's them trying to keep it for students.

New site from "Them Earth Meteors"
The people who started "Them Earth Meteors" at Columbia are back

As it turns out, "Them Earth Meteors" was really an anagram for "The Master Theorem." It was a secret puzzling society of sorts at Columbia University (I was a member back when I was in school), but they've broadened their reach since then. M, the founder, decided to open it up to other people and create a web presence. Right now, there are weekly Theorems (their word for a puzzle) that you have to solve to earn membership. From there, people compete for points and seals, which are like badges you get for solving mini puzzles. They just launched a week or two ago, but it's up and running, and should have significantly more and harder puzzle content soon: http://www.themastertheorem.com
