I changed the url to http://256isjustanumber.com/not/ and got to some kind of blog. Guess we'll just have to see how the story unfolds.

A whois on the site indicates that it was registered through DreamHost. All the contacts are DreamHost names and addresses.

The Wordpress username is 256, but the passwords "thebox" "outsidethebox" and "outside" are incorrect.
I suspect that I wasn't supposed to try and login to the WP build, and the "Login" link is up there by accident.

I noticed this thread because I had seen the movie The Number 23 (great movie by the way, I recommend it!) and so seeing a possible ARG based on a mysterious number has peaked my interest. I'll definitely follow this one.

BTW, there's been two updates on the website. Looks like he got the case open, but it seems to leave him and us with more questions then answers. Especially this page of the journal that he found in the case:

That "he;lp" keeps nagging at me. I ran across it on the SomethingAwful forums as an old (2003-2004ish) in-joke -- I'm sure by now it's spread over to 4chan and Fark.

I don't know whether to take it as an actual clue or just the type of mistake an anguished, scared individual would make when typing quickly. Considering that the rest of hir IM isn't rife with those sorts of typos, it's waving at me like a sore thumb.

I'm back at work with the abiulity to watch videos (I can't at home) so I'll comb through some of them for a bit.
