I'm getting annoyed by something. Remember when the new password came out on Myspace? Well, I've not been able to access the same Myspace page since. However, I was just checking mine and this image came up.

The pic was supposed to link to go here:

http://dect.myspace.com/event.ng/Type=click&FlightID=42155&AdID=69001&TargetID=12912&Values=710&Redirect=http%3A%2F%2Fprofile%2Emyspace%2Ecom%2Findex%2Ecfm%3Ffuseaction%3Duser%2Eviewprofile%26friendid%3D168783921

Instead, it keeps pushing me to the Myspace home page. There's nothing relevant there that I've been able to find.

Speaking of convincing fakes, Soundwave revealed himself to be one this morning.

One anomoly is that the quotes are 3 and 2 and instead of apostrophes they use superscript 1. Not sure what that means but it's got to mean something.
This isn't a clue, just an error. I copied and pasted a couple of those emails too. In the original emails I received those superscript numbers looked like regular quotation marks. I think it is probably just the way phpBB is handling the characters.

Ah man. Soundwave as well. Swines. You know one thing though, despite being fake they did damn good jobs at being convincing, he nailed what I always thought was cool about soundwave as a transformer. Bravo.

Cynicism and a train of thought that's been bugging me ever since they admitted being fakes though, this could be a fantastic use of hiding in plain sight. Many were beginning to think they were fake, others were paranoid about sector seven agents invading and some took great advantage of their cameo in this game as white noise Twisted Evil

If we end up discounting the buzznet site, what assets In Game do we have to stop sector seven? Not much. Especially since we don't know what Agent X's motives are either. Also the last website update introduced Simmons and we know he's a character in the movie. Sector Seven seems to be inching closer to pulling this cover up off.

Just some random thoughts.

Not to be cynical, but I was never convinced any NBEs were on SSS. I mean, like I said before, can you picture a Transformer, whether Autobot or Decepticon, bothering to communicate to us puny mortal fleshbots via an internet forum?

Anyway, I'm really antsy to see what's coming next. It's just killing me. So much that last night I had a dream that the old takara83 password was working again.

GAH!

Forums are always whitenoise. Always. That is a risk of playing a game on a forum, doesn't mean it's a bad idea. Still Gaemenm was a very convincing fake indeed. Ah well.

Welcome to the world of args Wink
Every ARG can easily have content that may ro may not be ingame... which is why by default, we tend to redflag 'whitenoise' resources, as it were. Watch, but don't trust. The only trustable resources are those directly referenced by trusted ingame assets. Considering SSS was referenced ingame (though that reference may also be spoofed: email), the buzznet site may very likely be official - however due to its whitenoise nature, content is guilty until innocent - the content isn't controlled by a trusted source, so the only content that's trustworthy is that which is again, referenced or controlled by a trusted ingame asset.

Right now, while I'm not 100% sold even on SSS being official (more like 90%), I'm only giving a bit of leeway for the admins of the group, and largely passing off on all the uncontrolled content. The sole purpose I see of SSS (speaking meta) is that it's a place to keep people interested and creating buzz (hey, buzznet) about the arg, rather than primarily as a resource to further the game. It might in the future, but so far nothing ingame has happened there.

In short, when something is ingame, we'll know it's ingame. Otherwise the ARG's leaving a huge wide open door to gamejacking, and that aint fun.

so pritty mutch our only option, is to go through old information on s7.org over and over to see if we get something new, and pritty mutch just comming up with theories. aparently sss is just a waste of time. i personaly think nothing on it is credible except for a select few posts. and either way if it was credible and posted on there... it has already been on here. so i see no point on it unless maybe powers himself gets on there and says something or agent x releases more information. as for now.. its just a waste of time.

Well, that's actually how it came in both gmail and my personal outlook email. Had nothing to do with phpbb. I agree it's likely an error, but it seems a bit odd.

In a previous thread, inverseapprentice claims to have seen a possible NBE in an alleyway, which stood approximately 6' tall, it made a loud screaching noise of some sort, then got into an unoccupied (yet moving) Police Car, a cop (with mustache) suddenly appeared in the driver's seat (holograph?), and then it drive off...

This second thread is them cliaming to have heard that noise near their house... waking her up at night two nights in a row... (as of the first post)

Razz I just got a message from ScienceHottie35 on Buzznet...

Quote:
From sciencehottie35
Date 04/12/2007 9:32 PM
Subject ...
your voice has not gone unheard, loyal methusalen. leadership is needed, i'm working some backchannels, calling in some favors to get you the ability to moderate.

I'm about 99% certain this is in reference to an email I sent AgentX via the x[SPLAT]ebucehtdnif.ws website address on the 10th... Let's see if I can dig up that email...
here we go...
Quote:
Please Agent X, I do believe that the Stop Sector Seven buzznet site is helping pool together the resources we have available. Unfortunately, there are people there that are (badly) pretending to be NBE's! Between the false information, and outright lies from these imposters, we aren't sure who to trust, nor who to believe! Give us some clues, a nudge in the right direction!

For the sake of humanity, neigh, the EARTH, I beg this of you!

Ever loyal,

Methusalen

I say as such, since I used the phrase "Ever Loyal", and they wrote to me as such "Loyal Methusalen"...

So, is this confirmation of Sciencehottie35's legitimacy? If someone wants, I can forward them the email I initially wrote Agent X, but as for proof about Sciencehottie's PM, all I can do is screencap & post...

[img][/img]
sorry if it stenches the screen

*Ugh... Did I read that right? "I'm calling in some favors, to get you the ability to moderate?"... Where's the "OMFG, I'm going to be sick" pukey Emote? SH35 couldn't be serious, could they/he/she? What should I do/say? I have NO experience moderating... Should I politely decline and recommend another person? (Maybe RisingDragon? How about you thebruce?)... Someone who might have an idea what they're doing and be far more effective at it?

And, if it's not asking too much, Thebruce, are you a member over at SSS? If so, what's your user name?

I'm not registered there... not going to register just for the sake of it; but if I did register I'd just be thebruce, as usual Razz

and no, i don't have time or desire to moderate at SSS, I'm sure they can handle it anyway =P

Well, to be fair, I did say I was ill (and initially panicky) about the thought of moderating... (and to be fair, the reason I mentioned your name was because of your S7 wiki... It's been a bookmark of mine for a little while now...).

But, If they'd like me to moderate SSS, I'd be more than happy to assist... (as long as they clue me in on what the heck's going on and who's trustworthy ie-IN GAME...) Wink

Anyways, I guess I'll just go with the flow, as they say... wish me luck... Mr. Green

Which is why, if it is official, that won't happen... Wink
