and since I've split this off into a new thread, for reference here is the link http://ethanhaaswaswrong.blogspot.com/

Entry dated Monday, July 30, 2007

if your browser doesn't display "tooltips" when you hover over an image, you can view the html source to find the "alt" text associated with the image = [D-------.jpg]

(i had to refresh to see the update for some reason)

Thanks for the new thread. You're looking at the right site, not sure why it's showing you Thursdays update. The new one is labeled Monday July 30.

Except for the fact that you have one with inverted colors and one without. Confused

Sorry; that edit didn't work out. I meant waitress beat me to it. Anyway, it probably is a puzzle of some sort. They only have two days to put this thing together, so there may be several images coming in short order.

check this out:

the blues are similar around the man-looking thing.

the first picture, the fj322302303 one, was inverted in the first place.

[edited because i said the same thing twice. oops.]

It reminds me of the kind of iconography you find in paintings in curches, with the alrget glowing man(im assuming thats a man's neck) looking down over something.

I blew up the new image for comparison. The color match is decent if not perfect, but the shape match is poor so far. The smaller, earlier image in a box has a distressed feel that the new image lacks.

Inverting the colors of the original box image actually produces a worse overall match imo. I see no reason to invert colors on the new image, as the original looks more real. It feels like we're looking at a fragment of concept art with the new image.

I've said before that I can see the letter "V" in the older image. If we're going to go with colors, I think we have "gamma cass" red and cream. Here's a quick mockup of how the inverted image might fit into a journal page. I've rotated the image 90 degrees here to show off the possible lettering.

The darker/brighter yellow shade is too vibrant to fit anywhere in that particular journal page, though I can imagine it on a new journal page. The blue/aqua color stands out as strikingly different from anything we've seen before. I checked ethanhaaswasright.com, but the blues have that 'led' glow with no hint of green. The Mind Storm Labs site has blues that are too gray, the yellows too orangish on the whole to fit.

So here's where you guys are gonna kill me, I know. I see Slusho blue. The black line seems about the right thickness too, though the smudginess doesn't match Slusho's clean image. Below is a mockup.

Note that the url for the slusho store image I've used is:
http://store.slusho.jp/v/big.html

Er... /v/? I've read the arguments for and against the Cloverfield/1-18-08 and Alpha Omega campaigns being related. I DON'T think they are. I will admit this latest coincidence left me giggling. Maybe these guys should get together and compare notes?

First of... IT IS NOT SLUSHO!

Secondly, those are glass windows... Looks to me like we're starting to get a peek at the Divinus resort.

...especially considering the picture's filename is "D-------.jpg"...

In all seriousness, it's quite possible we're meant to turn the new picture sideways. As with the inverted colors from the first picture, this is something anybody can do in MS Paint. On the menu at the top, go to Image --> Flip / Rotate --> Rotate by Angle - 90%. This was not my idea, but was contributed by "Gerrald Coffin" as a reply on the Ethan Haas Was Wrong blog. But I thought I'd post it visually.

Turned this way, it looks like a woman on the street at bottom left, with a yellow cab in front of her. The blue above her head would be a neon sign. The top part would be a mirrored building reflecting the damage another building has suffered at its peak. Actually, the reflected building looks kinda like:

Maybe.

It's glass, no doubt about that, but the perspective of the panes makes it look like the way it was originally posted was correct and the left edge is closer to the camera.

On a side note, was it in this or another thread where a personalized response from Triton ot somebody stated that the Divinus images were already available online?
