oooh. This looks awfully plausible. Just look at the plot synopsis:

"While shooting a Halloween news story on horror writer H.P. Lovecraft, reporter Rebecca Marsh discovers that the "fiction" Lovecraft wrote is actually true and the creatures and cults described in his writings really exist. "

Then spec back to all of the 'monster' references they've given out and Rowan's comment about the octopus story (since I've not actually, personally read any Lovecraft)

Do the white left/top borders on this image argue that this pix is the top left corner of the overall picture?

I think those are just a side-effect of using a digital camera (and a white tabletop) rather than a flatbed scanner.

Oh, sorry you're right. misinterpreted the boundary of the piece and the boundary of the image.

Sounds so much like In the Mouth of Madness. In that one, a writer searching for a Steven King/Lovecraft-hybrid-like author discovers that his stories are real.

=:O I should have put a warning about that, since I made the mistake of visiting that site - I've got super-ultra-corporate-virus protection, so it didn't mess with my computer, but I bet the software logged it and reported it to the techs. Sad I hope they like me enough not to tell on me.

PSA to all - don't visit www . insearchoflovecraft . com - it's virus-ridden!!

That IS the official movie site, though...pretty lame...doesn't seem like the target for a high-budget (or so it seems) ARG like this.

[META] so if this ARG is a promo for this movie, why is the website for this movie such a hacked-up mess? They'd know we'd find that website. Unless the nasty website is supposed to throw us off the trail...

I viewed the site in Opera, and nothing bad happened, so I hope I'm ok. The source definitely shows some questionable stuff though... I wouldn't visit this site in IE.

Good point. Perhaps, then, the iChing code does not indicate the position (in order) of the letters, but some other grouping possibility, perhaps a grid of some sort? Unfortunately, I think it'll be difficult to tell until we get more of the pieces to this puzzle...

The only reason I mentioned it was because it's the only Lovecraft-related media release I could find that might be in a "promotion" stage. I wouldn't necessarily spec that B.A. Saint Feline is anything to do with the movie. Google-gurus might be able to dig up something more likely.

I hate that my company won't let me use Firefox...

A quick Google of B.A. Saint Feline brought up an interesting reference to the "Feast of the Cat" which is held on April 27th in a small town in Italy in the Lazio region (which means that it's near Rome since that city is also in Lazio). Apparently it's a celebration of a local Saint (Agatha) and her cat who somehow (and this isn't very clear, apparently) stopped a ruthless cutthroat from taking over towns in the area).

I know that this probably has nothing whatsoever to do with the Lovecraft Lovefest (sorry, couldn't resist - been a long day) going on in this ARG, but it seemed interesting anyway....

That didn't help nearly as much as I'd hoped Smile

Sheets of "Arches Aquarelle" paper apparently come in a large variety of sizes. The sizes I've found for sale so far are:
(18x26 cm)
(23x31 cm)
(24x32 cm)
(26x36 cm)
(29,7x42 cm)
(31x41 cm)
(36x51 cm)
46x61 cm
56x76 cm
64.8x101.6 cm
75x105 cm
118.7x88.9 cm
101.6x152.4 cm
105x75 cm
113x915 cm

The biggest seller, listed on sites with a small selection, appears to be 56x76 cm.
The pieces form at least a 3x3 grid, so anything below 39x59 cm is out.
Either way, I can't seem to find a good way to fit multiple of your pieces into any of these sizes. Maybe someone else has better luck.

(I'm trying to figure out the total amount of packages to expect, in case anyone is wondering why I care Smile)
