Same query here. I've been looking at the wiki and am wondering if the page numbers of these other illustrations, etc. might be relevant too. We've gotten enough stuff now that a lot of the page numbers are starting to look like they connect..

Looking at the other page inio got (53/54), it makes sense that this one is 77/78. The wiki has a good overview of all the pages, and is starting to put them together in order.

I should also point out that there may have been other reasons that people are chosen to receive packages, and if you didn't receive a package, you still may turn out to be a very valuable member of the player community.

My first game was I Love Bees, which was set in the universe of the Halo video games. It was really neat to watch how various people's backgrounds and talents meshed to make the player community a nearly unstoppable force. A lot of the old guard ARGers helped in organizing the community and keeping it sane, while some of the diehard Halo fans that were new to ARGs helped us by contributing their encyclopedic knowledge of that universe (I suspect that the people from PST Productions know Lovecraft backwards and forwards, which may prove invaluable), and others saved the day just by being in the right place at the right time, by helping make resources, or even just by having random clever insights.

So, if you're new and you didn't get a package, don't think that doesn't mean that we may end up depending on you for something. ARGs have a funny way of making what may seem like someone's Useless Talent or Obscure Background Knowledge vital to saving the day. Smile

For those that got packages, I'm assuming your address is posted somewhere - like on another ARG you played. But is there anything in place for this one? Should we be sending an address to our appropriate craigslist posting or something?

Very useful, thanks.

This is probably already obvious, but I find it interesting that the vast majority of the page numbers from the Lovecraft works are *5/*6, which is similar to the initial *5 numbers in the sets of three numbers following the I Ching phrases.

In the non-Lovecraft 2600/Monsters pages, though, the *5/*6 numbers are the rare exceptions -- and furthermore, in the 2600 pages, the two *5/*6 pages that are included so far are the only ones with words circled. What it all means, I don't know.

So far, I think, they've gotten our addresses through Nefarious Means. Wink

(I.e. we played earlier games, or...I'm actually not sure where they got mine. They might have gotten an address for PST Productions from a domain registration or something similar.)

Later in the game you may get a chance to have swag sent to you, or there may be something you can receive at the end (their last game had a commemorative poster), but at this point, no, there doesn't seem to be an in-game channel for sending them your address.

I think that I *might* have found the source of the various illustrations and images of gorillas, etc. in the packages. My primary clue was the name "Ted Gott" in the most recent page from inio's package.

A long chain of Google searches has left me pretty convinced that all of these images are from an exhibition catalog for an exhibit at the Queensland Art Gallery in Australia entitled "Kiss of the Beast: From Paris Salon to King Kong" by Ted Gott and Kathryn Weir.

I haven't been able to independently find any images of the book contents, but the description of the book here seems to fit the illustrations we're seeing pretty well...

Nice work! It looks like it's not just a catalog, but an actual book, complete with ISBN (1876509082). Maybe someone with a well-stocked library nearby can manage to find a copy.

Edit: this Queensland Art Gallery Annual Report (PDF) on page 30 shows some shots of the book, and mentions that it's 128 pages long.

 		Since we're talking about sources, I think the "At the Mountains of Madness" pages came from this version--the font and spacing matches perfectly for pages 3,4 according to Amazon's "search inside".

UCSC doesn't have it but UCSD does and I could do the same if yours doesn't pan out.
