Since I'm in Houston, I replied to the Houston ad. The w4w and w4m at the end of these "missed connections" subject lines... Does the craigslist system add them in automatically? I'm assuming they mean woman-looking-for-woman and woman-looking-for-man, in which case we know a little something more about the people she's seeking out.

Hello, BA -

I'm not sure who your craigslist message was for, but I was wondering if I could help you find your friend in Houston, or find out why he (she?) left. Are you still here in the city? I live in Houston and know the city very well.

-October

So lame, I know...

I wonder who got the Houston package, if there was one??

Huh, maybe those Craigslist postings are intended for us, then. But did we find one for Varin's city? (In defense of that theory, these are sort of odd cities to select -- not your normal major cities. No New York, no Chicago, no San Francisco, no LA...)

Okay, who and where have we so far?

Austin:
Baltimore:
Houston:
(Indianapolis: Varin)
Louisville:
Milwaukee: Phaedra
Providence: LouMac
Winnipeg:

So, has our Winnipegian received a package?

lol....Winnipegger Wink

I can tell you from experience, it takes a hella longish time for things to reach Canada from the States (compared to mailing things within them that is). I would guess if the same shipping method was used on the same day - tack another week onto it - if you're lucky.

I think that Addlepated is from one of those Texas cities.

I searched and searched but didn't see Las Vegas anywhere. And I don't really expect one since I wasn't active in any of the previous GMD games.

Darn.

In response to this ad: http://providence.craigslist.org/mis/311564036.html, I sent the following message.

I'm sorry, but I didn't notice you, I but remember the guy in the
mask. He was one of those guys that his business suit and his forced
charm is his mask. Overcompensating with his Mercedes and his $12
martinis.

I hope we can get in touch, and rectify that missed connection.

Thanks
Lou

I'm in Austin. I don't have anything at home, but I haven't checked the PO box in a couple of days. Of course I'll let y'all know ASAP if something shows up. Smile

Scans of all the items I received in my package: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rowan72/sets/72157600085204580/

Interestingly enough, I got a printout of the Providence Craigslist ad even though there is a Binghamton listing.

This looks very promising. Which is really cool, I've never been able to get in on the ground level of a big name ARG before.

I'm in Baltimore (well, near enough)--should I perhaps reply to the craigslist post, or does that simply mean that odds are good a package was sent to someone in/near Baltimore? I've never really used craigslist before, but I could call her phone number. And I'm female, which matches the ad...

Any idea on the coins, anyone? They look very familiar to me but I can't decide why. Maybe just because they look like old subway tokens.

Also wanted to point out that they used "Be seeing you" to say goodbye on The Prisoner.

Thought I'd do a round-up of the craigslist ads found through a search on Google (or found by doing a local search) and who they all (possibly? presumably?) belong to. This is based on who already received packages and the "w4w" or "w4m" in the subject line:

Austin - w4w (Addlepated)
Houston - w4m
Baltimore - w4w
Milwaukee - w4w (Phaedra)
Providence - w4m (LouMac)
Winnipeg - w4m (Jamesi?)
Louisville - w4m

Not found in Google Search:
Binghamton - w4w (Rowan)
Gainsville - w4m (molecularr)
Kitchener - w4m
Lynchburg - w4m
Penn State - w4m
Windsor - w4w

Packages received with no corresponding ad:
Chesterton, IN (Varin)
Portland, OR (Spacebass)

Let me know if I'm missing anything - will update.

C

Edit - (4/17) Added Gainsville and Kitchener craigslists ads
Edit - (4/17) Added molecularr to Gainsville ad
Edit - (4/17) Added new craigslist ads found by erosieo

I tried to stop you at the garage. Do you remember that or was it just another dream?

The "Kitchener" is probably thebruce, and I think there are a couple of people in the "Gainesville" area (molecularr?)

Is this going to be impossible to play for us poor, unwashed commoners who didn't get sent a package?
Poo.
I live close enough to Milwaukee. I would have ran down there to get a package! Especially one with nifty kitty-cat coins!
