This was out in the UK near the end of 2006 so it's a safe bet it's got nothing to do with YZ (other than being where YZ took the idea from? Granted, a dirty bomb in one of the biggest cities in the world isnt original but still)

the only correlation between year zero and that trailer are that an explosion occured in la. I think in year zero it was one, and was located specifically at the academy awards.

Pretty sure it was multiple dirty bombs detonated around LA during the Oscars.

From hollywoodinmemoriam:

The first dirty bomb went off at the Kodak Theater during the 81st Annual Academy Awards Ceremony. Over the next
half hour, eight more dirty bombs deployed by Islamic extremists spread a pall of radioactive dust across Greater LA.
Three days later a Presidential order required the entire city to be evacuated.

I think it's a coincidence. The director hasn't said anything about Year Zero, and from my understanding, the soldiers are normal, and so is the Government.
